* * * *Information for the Canned Food Drive* * * *
As the holiday season approaches, MGES wants to continue making an impact in our community. For the beginning of November, leading up to Thanksgiving, we will be collecting nonperishable and canned food items for those in need. All the donations collected will go to Johnson County Senior Services. They maintain a food pantry of nonperishable food items not only for seniors but also anyone in need. They are the only agency in the entire county that delivers pantry food items to the homes of food insecure individuals.
Our goal is to PACK THE HALL! All donations that are made will be counted and placed in the main hallway starting on Nov. 2nd. They will be organized by classroom. All students from the classroom with the most donations will get to pie a principal in the face during their lunch! We will be picking a top K-2 classroom and a top 3-5 classroom. We will also be doing a half point winning class. Whoever is in the lead by Nov. 7th will get popsicles. The final day to bring in donations will be Monday, Nov. 13th.
Picture Re-Take Day - November 9th! Please do not wear the color green!!

PARENTS PLEASE READ:
Reminder: If you DO NOT have a car tag #, you cannot choose to make your student a car rider in Pick Up Patrol. You must have a Car Tag # to get in the Car Line. The car tag needs to be in your car every day. If you do not have your car tag, you will need to have your ID ready.
Please be sure that all cars participating in carline are using all three lanes. By using all three lanes we prevent Whiteland Road from backing up. We appreciate your cooperation and help!
ABSENCES
Open PUP> Click on your child's name>click on the drop down menu>under "Plan" choose "Absent"> Under "more info." add reason for absence> Click Submit. If you have more than one child absent, you will do the same thing for the next one. If you have any questions, click on the link below for Pick Up Patrol tutorials.
If you have your default set in PUP for your student(s), you do not need to go in and enter each day how they are going home. Only enter a PLAN change when you are CHANGING how they are going home at dismissal. (Leaving early for an appt., taking a car home instead of the bus (don't forget you need a car tag to do that!) etc.
If your child is coming in late due to an appointment, you can put them in "Early Dismissal/appointments at 9:00am and in the notes put "coming in late due to appt." ***Please do not forget to get a Dr.'s note for your appointment. New CG School Corporation rules have limited the amount of time to turn in Dr. Notes for excuses. You only have 14 days to get the Dr. Note turned in for it to be excused.
***WE DO NOT NEED TO KNOW HOW YOUR CHILD GETS TO SCHOOL IN THE MORNING, WE ONLY NEED TO KNOW HOW THEY GET HOME.****
*Please do NOT click on the "sign your student out" box. The student is not checked out.

REMINDER FOR PICKING UP YOUR STUDENT EARLY OR FOR AN APPOINTMENT DURING THE DAY
Enter appointment information into Pick Up Patrol under "Early Release". (Even if you will be bringing them back to school from an appointment), you must enter the information into Pick Up Patrol. After entering the pick up information, you will be asked for the time, reason, and the FULL NAME of the person picking up your child. You can add any other information you feel is necessary, including what they will do at dismissal.
***Please DO NOT click on the "Parent sign out" when entering your child for early dismissals.

SECURITY AT MGES
- Exterior doors remain locked throughout the school day. Please ring the doorbell if you need assistance.
- The vestibule (entryway) is secured. Visitors/Parents will not be permitted in the building beyond the vestibule. If you are dropping off a child or picking up a child from the clinic, you will check in with Mrs. Schneider and your child will meet you in the vestibule. If you are picking up your child/children for an early dismissal, PUP must be updated with the students early dismissal plans in order for us to allow a parent into the building.
- If you need to drop off/pick up items from school, there is a pass-through door located next to Mrs. Schneider. Make sure your child's name/room # or teacher name is on the item(s).
- Be sure to have your ID on you at all times when entering the building. We will still be checking ID's before any student can be checked out of the building.
- All students being picked up at the end of the school day will be a part of our car rider line.
