Fall Scholastic Book Fair
November 15–22 | Prairie Library
The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Prairie! This is a great opportunity for parents to do some early holiday gift shopping or for students to stock up on winter reading materials.
Book Fair Hours:
November 15–17: 8 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
November 20–21: 8 a.m.–7 p.m.
November 22: 8:00–8:30 a.m. (Last Day)
Scholastic offers a program called eWallet—a digital payment account for your child. Before the Book Fair, parents can set up an eWallet account for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute—out of town grandparents, family or friends! Teachers will also be able to create an eWallet to purchase new books for their classrooms. If you can't make it to the Book Fair, you will be able to shop online. All orders ship directly to your home and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Every online purchase will also benefit the Prairie Library. Their goal is 1,000 new books! Visit the Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/yelmprairieelementaryschl.
Staff Spotlight
Third Grade Team
Did you know that the Third Grade team has a total of 79 years of teaching experience! Mrs. Valerie Harmon is in year three, Mr. Kevin Kier is in year 32, and Mrs. Cyndy Freshour-Johnson is in year 44!!! When asked about something the team has in common, we discovered their connections to the military. Mrs. Johnson's father served in the Air Force and she went to Kindergarten in Germany. Mr. Kier served in the Coast Guard. And Mrs. Harmon is a military spouse, her husband recently retired from the Army.
Ask any Prairie student and they will tell you that in third grade Iditaread is a big thing. Many of the reading projects that students will do are connected to Alaska's Iditarod in March. Students will follow the mushers and read their way from Anchorage to Nome. Thank you, Third Grade Team, we appreciate you and your service!

Transportation Route = Bus Color
If Transportation Calls
Ever wonder which transportation route your child is assigned to? At Prairie, our students find it easier to refer to their transportation routes by a color. However, it often leaves parents wondering what route/ bus color their students are on. Below is a quick reference list of transportation route numbers and the assigned Prairie color:
Route 25–Yellow
Route 26–Red
Route 27–Purple
Route 28–Pink
Route 29–Green
Route 30–Blue
Route 31–Orange
