Proposed Sinking Fund Renewal
At their Regular Meeting on July 24, 2023, Bronson's Board of Education approved a Sinking Fund Resolution which includes ballot language for the renewal of the current sinking fund for voters to consider on the November ballot. The proposed renewal would renew the sinking fund at the current Tax Rate (1.9766 mills) to generate approximately $460,000/year, if collected.
Click the button below for information about the Sinking Fund Renewal Proposal. Be on the lookout for additional information between now and November 7th.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with additional questions you might have regarding this proposal. My contact information can be found at the bottom of this update.
Handbook Updates
The Board of Education approved the following changes to the BCS Handbooks.
District Wide Handbook - Attendance Update
ATTENDANCE POLICY
All absences will be recorded as Contacted (parent phone call/note, medical/court note) or Not Contacted (no parent phone call or note). The first 5 Contacted Absences will be considered as excused (see below). Failure to report an absence by telephone or provide a note on the day the student returns to school will result in the absence being recorded as Not Contacted and Unexcused.
EXCESSIVE ABSENCES FROM SCHOOL
Any student who is absent from school for more than 5 days between the first day of school and January 31st or between February 1st and the last day of school (please note: the 5 day limit will be “reset” on February 1st each year) is required to present a current medical excuse/formal documentation for each absence thereafter in order for the absence to be recorded as excused. The administration will follow Branch County Truancy guidelines regarding chronic absences/extensive history of absenteeism for students with excessive absences. This process may include working with a truancy officer and/or a referral to the County Prosecutor.
Building Handbook Updates
Building principals will be sharing the following updates to their respective handbooks:
Anderson Code of Conduct
Ryan Code of Conduct
BJSHS Dress Code
