CBE PTA Healthy Minds Family Event
The Carl Ben Eielson PTA will be sponsoring a Healthy Minds event for all CBE families. Please join us as Dr. Joanna Johnson presents on Healthy Minds & Bodies and Social & Emotional Awareness.
Come with an appetite - pizza will be provided!

PTA Officers needed for 2023-24 School Year
CBE Families
The PTA Nomination's committee is seeking officers for the school year 2023-2024. Without the volunteers we wouldn't be able to do teacher's conference meals, donations to the library, end of year picnic, field trips for the classrooms etc. If you would like to self-nominate for any of the following officer positions, please contact Darla Bakko @ miss_verbitsky@hotmail.com All nominations need to be received by Monday April 3rd.
Section 1. The president shall:
a. Preside at all meetings of this PTA;
b. Confirm that a quorum is present before conducting any business at any meeting of the association;
c. Serve as an ex officio member of all committees except the nominating committee;
d. Coordinate the work of the officers and committees of this PTA in order that the purposes may be promoted;
e. Be authorized to sign contracts that have been approved by the executive board.
f. Send the names and contact information of the officers to the North Dakota PTA by May 15th of each year;
g. Be listed as the principal officer and be authorized to sign tax documents;
h. Direct the treasurer to complete and file all necessary tax documents;
i. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the executive board.
Section 2. The vice president shall:
a. Act as aide to the president;
b. Perform the duties of the president in the president’s absence or inability to serve;
c. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.
Section 3. The secretary shall:
a. Record the minutes of all meetings of the Carl Ben Eielson Middle School PTA;
b. Be prepared to read the records of any previous meetings;
c. File all records;
d. Have a current copy of the bylaws;
e. Maintain a membership list which shall not be released to outside interests;
f. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.
Section 4. The treasurer shall:
a. Have custody of the funds of this PTA
b. Keep full and accurate accounts and records of the funds of this PTA as shall be sufficient to establish the items of gross income receipts and disbursements including bank statements, receipts, budgets, invoices paid, paid receipts and canceled checks in accordance with the record retention policy. This also includes specifically the number of its members, the dues collected from its members and the amount of dues remitted to North Dakota PTA.
c. Make disbursements as authorized by the president, executive board, or this PTA in accordance with the budget adopted by this PTA;
d. Checks shall be signed, or debit card charges shall be initiated, by only the Treasurer or President (signatories) with prior written approval from one additional elected officer in keeping with the approved budget or budget amendments;
e. Provide a written financial statement at each meeting;
f. Present an annual report of the financial condition of the organization during the May general meeting;
g. Submit the books annually for a financial review at the close of the PTA’s fiscal year. The review should be completed before the first executive board meeting of the next fiscal year. The review should be conducted by a financial review committee or auditor selected by the executive board. None of the signatories (authorized signers) on the PTA’s accounts (for the fiscal year being reviewed) can be on the review committee. The treasurer shall be available to answer any questions that arise;
h. Report the findings of the annual financial review to the executive board;
i. Complete and file all necessary tax documents as directed by the president;
j. Perform such other duties as may be provided for by these bylaws, prescribed by the parliamentary authority, or directed by the president or the executive board.

Teacher Appreciation Week 2023: May 8-12
We've lined up a fun week to recognize and thank our CBE teachers and staff for this year's Teacher Appreciation Week! We know many families would also like to show their appreciation by helping to contribute. If you would like to donate any items, please sign-up using the form below.
Please have your items to the school office by 9 am on the corresponding day that you signed up.
If you are unable to bring items but would like to give a monetary donation, please do so at MemberHub (open donation) or drop off at the school office.
Thank you for helping to show our CBE teachers and staff appreciation for everything they do all year!
PTA Healthy Minds Grant - Week 7
The National PTA’s Healthy Minds program is highlighting Responsible Decision Making and how to build those skills at home this week! Our goal for the program was to encourage families to take a few moments to connect and learn how to build Social Emotional skills together! Thank you for your participation!

Developing and maintaining strong relationships is an essential aspect of our daily lives. We hope the tools provided gave insight to managing relationships at your home. PTA Healthy Minds Grant - Week 1
The Carl Ben Eielson PTA is excited to again participate in the National PTA’s Healthy Minds program focused on social emotional learning and service learning. Over the next couple months, we will be sharing resources on how to help your children develop stronger SEL skills along with activities that you can do as a family.
