Willow Parent Bulletin #6

The classrooms are delving into fall activities and learning about Hispanic Heritage month which runs through mid-October. The rest of the month is also busy with days off, picture day, and Halloween.

With the coming change of weather, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately. Our lost and found is already filling, so we encourage you to label all items that come to school. It's also a good time to start making sure your Wildcat can get his/her/their coat, boots, mittens, etc. on independently and in a timely manner.

The weather change usually brings about delays in transportation for everyone. Please be patient with your Wildcats and each other. Following the established routines like pulling all the way down the drop off lane and and staying out of the bus area in the cul-de-sac will help.

If your Wildcat will need to leave early, we will call her/him/them down once you arrive. Instructional time is precious, so we want to maximize their time in the classroom instead of waiting in the office. Similarly to arriving late in the morning, repeatedly leaving early can also be detrimental.

The new date change for Shield testing starts next week. Be sure to see below.

Garden

Years ago during one of the construction editions to the building, we ended up with some trapped space. For many, many years, Willow has been blessed by a group of Master Gardeners and their dedicated and amazing leader, Regina Zohfeld. Regina lives locally and freely gives of her time and talents to make this a beautiful learning place for our Wildcats. It's taken a huge amount of time and effort after Covid kept them away for a few years. We are so grateful for all she does!

Bullying Presentations

Our SEL Team ( Social Emotional Learning) will be going into each classroom to present bullying presentations to all K-2 students. The curriculum comes from 2nd Step, which is also the source of the District adopted SEL curriculum. You can learn more at: https://www.secondstep.org/bullying-prevention

The first of the 3 part presentations will be begin in October. Subsequent lessons will follow in January and March. More information is also in the letter below.

Shield Testing

Shield Testing is now done at home. Next week all home tests should be returned to school on Tuesday. Tests will be sent home with all students whose adult "opted in" for them. If you would like your Wildcat tested, the link is still available.

Hearing and Vision Screenings
