VIBE Programming
In Innisfree School, I am currently programming with every grade from 1-9 and will continue to do so year round. In mygrade 1/2/3 class, we are wrapping up with our “Worry Woos” program, where the students have enjoyed getting to meet new characters every week. In my grade 4/5/6 class, we are wrapping up with our “Merrell Strong Kids” grade 4 program
where the students just finished creating Goal Setting Vision Boards and we will be starting a new program on December 1st. In my grade 7 class, we just finished our “Random Acts of Kindness” program and will be starting a new program on December 1st as well. Lastly, in my grade 9 class we are wrapping up with our “I’ve Got This” program and the students just completed an Egg Drop activity in our last lesson, which was a huge hit with them, and they learned about risk and protective factors, after this program, they will continue on with the “Discovering Your Future” program. Overall, I have very close relationships with the staff and students in Innisfree and VIBE is very appreciated and loved by the students. Even in the last few months, there have been noticeable improvements in several of the students' behaviors, work ethic and use of positive coping skills.- Brooklyn, VIBE Coach

Student Learning and Engagement
Passion Projects Engaging Our Students
With the help of the A+ for energy grant our students will work on passion projects every Friday in periods ⅞. They will apply learning from ELA, Math, and Science to develop project ideas, make project proposals, and enact their project ideas. Our secondary groups have started already. Elementary is still planning what this will look like for them.
Our sewing group is underway, making a variety of bags. Stay tuned for information in regards to purchasing. Thank-you Mrs. Foyster for sharing your time and knowledge with our students!
Another group is looking at whether high-efficiency irons and hair dryers are saving us energy. This group has begun to do hair and measure energy consumption.
A few groups have expressed interest in 3-D printing. One group has worked with Mrs. Huppertz and Mr. Wasylciw to plan and design a watering system for the greenhouse. We have received our 3D printers and printed a few items on them as a learning curve. The group has printed one of their fittings. Students are using tinkercad to design their products.
Another group is investigating efficiencies in our school building and the impacts of people's behavior on our energy consumption. This group is working on writing their letter to Buffalo Trail maintenance on what they believe could have the most significant impact on our school building being more energy efficient in regards to drafts.
Our two other groups are actively working on building e-bikes and energy-producing bikes for charging a phone. Another group has built a solar panel cell phone charger in the servery area.
Each group has been tasked with creating a presentation on their passion project to be able to share their results with the entire school and community.
Thank you to our community for the donations towards all of these projects, making our hopes of reusing old materials to engage in energy projects a reality.
