Dear Parents and Carers,
We have had such an amazing week in school. There has been a lot happening and the children have learned a lot from their experiences.
Last Friday afternoon, we took a group of children to the Wakefield School Games Cross Country Championships and we won! This is a remarkable achievement. Three of the pupils qualified at the event for the Yorkshire Regional Championships. We wish them all the luck in the world and can’t wait to see how they do.
This Week
Police Visit - Year 6
Year 5 and Year 6 walk to Pontefract Town Centre
On Monday and Wednesday this week, our Year 5 and Year 6 children walked into Pontefract to understand further the history of their town. The children will use this knowledge to complete a written informative piece all about Pontefract. The Pontefract Civic Society are also supporting us with further information on this.
Jono Lancaster visit to school
On Tuesday, we had a very special visitor in school called Jono Lancaster. Some will know Jono as he grew up around this area. Jono was born with the condition Treachers Collins Syndrome. He held a whole school assembly and spent time in classes where he talked about his life story and answered any questions the children had. Jono is a true inspiration and it was heart-warming to see how he had instant connection with the children and staff. We have invited him to come in again at any time. Please look out for his charity, based in Pontefract, Love Me, Love My Face as he does so much work to support others with the same condition around the world.
