ConVal High School Happenings - September 3, 2021
Message From Principal McKillop
We are so excited to have all of our students back with us this week on campus! On Monday, we held a new student orientation and on Tuesday, we officially opened our doors to welcome all of our students back to school.
I was grateful to have to opportunity to address the freshman and sophomore classes this week. I will meet with the junior and senior classes next week. The assistant principals and school counselors have joined me at these meetings, so students can see the faces of additional supports available to them in the building.
Earlier today, we had a co-curricular and athletic fair in the gymnasium. Classes arrived in waves to visit tables and learn more information about how one can get involved here at the high school.
I will be visiting all of the home games today on campus. If you see me, please don't hesitate to say hello!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Heather

Co-Curricular and Athletic Fair
On Friday during TASC, students had an opportunity to explore the many clubs, co-curriculars, and athletic teams that ConVal has to offer.
For a complete listing of the clubs, please check out this page on the ConVal website.
New Student Orientation a success
On Monday, about 170 freshmen and transfer students attended new student orientation.
They met with their school counselors and teachers, practiced finding their classrooms, and were guided throughout the morning by 25 upperclassmen. These students volunteered their time on the last day of their summer vacation to help our new students get off to a good start. Their key advice: get involved with a club or other activity, and don’t worry.
New students will soon find their way around campus. The morning ended with an ice cream social and time for students to connect with old and new friends.

Happy First Day Of School
The German Club welcomed first year students to German class by helping them make a "Schultüte" (“school cone”, pronounced shool-too-tuh), which are paper cones filled with treats, small gifts, and school supplies.
In Germany, it is traditional for parents to give their children a "Schultüte" to wish them luck on their first day of school. Pictured here, two German club students give leftover Schultüte to faculty members, including Mr. Bartsch.
Athletic and CoCurricular Update/Information
ConVal’s fall athletic schedule is underway, and many of our 230 registered athletes have competed in games or meets this week. On Tuesday evening, the field hockey team hosted the first night game on the Stadium Field in over a year and a half, and our boys and girls soccer, and cross country teams all had successful starts to their seasons. Friday will be a busy athletic day at ConVal. Volleyball, boys soccer and football all have home games scheduled. Golf will play their first match next Tuesday at Bow, and Unified Soccer will begin practicing next week. This year Homecoming will be September 17th and 18th. All of our fall athletic schedules can be found at ConVal Athletics website. Please come out and support our athletes and their coaches.
If you have any questions, please contact athletic director John Reitnauer at jreitnauer@conval.edu.
