South Avenue Summer Newsletter

Dear South Avenue Community,

Thank you all so much for the welcome messages, I am really excited to be a part of your community and look forward to this school year. I hope you have enjoyed your summer break so far! I am writing to provide information to help you gear up for the 23-24 school year.

Student/Teacher Assignments will go live in the Parent Portal on mid-august. Letters are also being mailed and this is the last year for paper mailing.

Thursday, August 31, 2022 for students in Grades PreK & Grades 1-5. Families can come to South Avenue between 2:00 PM and 3:00 PM. This is an informal time for you and your child to acquaint yourselves with your child’s teachers and the building. Medical supplies and medications can be brought to the nurse at the Main Entrance. Kindergarten students have a separate supply drop off during their orientation (also on August 31st).

A letter was mailed to new families with detailed instructions for creating a Parent Portal account. New for the 23-24 school year, teacher assignments will be viewable on Parent Portal on August 14, 2023. Parent/Guardians will need an active Parent Portal account by that date to access teacher assignment information. Linked below is a letter with the steps to take in order to CREATE A PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT. After creating an account it could take 5-10 business days for your account to be confirmed and activated. Enclosed are set up directions and your access code information (unique to each user).

If you have an older student in the district, and you already have a Parent Portal account, you do not need to create a NEW account. Instead, you will follow the steps for ADDING A STUDENT TO YOUR EXISTING PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNT. The access code for the pre-kindergarten or kindergarten student is enclosed.

In-Person Help is Available! Should you have any questions, or need help creating an account, please contact the South Avenue Main Office (845-838-6900) and make an appointment to meet with our clerical staff for in person support.
