Cooper Landing School Updates
Parent Engagement Meeting
Next Thursday, October 26, Principal McKibben will be hosting the federally mandated semester 1 Parent Engagement meeting. This is part of the requirements for our Title 1 designation this year. The purpose of the meeting is to come up with fun academic activities that families and students can participate in together here at the school. Examples would be Bingo for Books or Camp Read a Lot. The meeting will be via Zoom at 5:00. We hope to see you there!
PAC Officers
At the meeting last Thursday evening, we only had 2 families participate. We can change dates and/or times of meetings if it would better accommodate your schedule.
In addition, we are in need of a PAC president, secretary, and treasurer. It sometimes becomes difficult to conduct the business of the PAC without officers. Please consider volunteering.

- Thursday, October 26 - Parent-Teacher Conferences - No School
- Friday, October 27 - Parent-Teacher Conferences - No School

Hope School Happenings
Its beginning to look a lot like cold temps. Alaska is letting us know the beautiful snow covered peaks are soon to bring trips to Alyeska, fun sled days on the playground, and warm holiday seasons. Thank you so much to the parents who have sent their students to school with the appropriate gear to be warm on the playground.
Mr. McKibben is busy with the tank out front. The little salmon eggs may have hatched. Have you taken time to view from 3:30 to 3:40? On their trip to Bear Creek, they gathered what they needed to hatch their salmon in an indoor controlled environment. The students have been very curious through the process. This is another great learning experience for them. What will happen when the salmon begin to grow and become more mature? The salmon will be released back into the waterways as determined by regulatory agencies when the time is right.
Mrs. Peck is working with the students on studies about Ancient History studies. Students are learning about Egyptian papyrus scrolls. Some ancient scrolls were as long as 16 meters. Differences in the language during that time. Geography and dialect very throughout Egypt even then. The students seemed to be very curious about this history lesson.
