NFV UPDATE
November 9, 2022
Over the past year, the district has been studying ways to make NFV stronger. This included a review of class size, which led to a discussion about facilities' needs. It became apparent that we support more classroom space than we need, based on our student population, and all of our elementary schools have unused space. When considering the size of the three elementary schools and the condition of the buildings, it is appropriate to consider whether the district continues the use of Fayette Elementary.
There are many questions that have to be considered in this situation. Top of that list is where to educate the 4th and 5th-grade students that currently attend Fayette Elementary. This discussion led to the district studying a grade-alike model as we consider grade alignment.
In this newsletter, I have included informational videos. Following these videos are two surveys for you to share your thoughts, concerns, and questions. Please be sure to watch the videos, without that information, the survey questions may not have much meaning for you.
The NFV Board of Education has set multiple opportunities for community members to ask questions and share input in person. These are scheduled at NFV High School on November 30, NFV Middle School on December 5, and Fayette Elementary on December 7. All of these sessions are scheduled to start at 6:30. During these meetings, a summary will be shared, however, most of the time will be allocated to hearing community concerns and comments.
These videos can also be found on the NFV Website, Facebook page, and linked below.
Thank you for your continued support for our students and school district.
Sincerely,
Joe Griffith
