HITEON HIGHLIGHTS NEWSLETTER
March 2021
Principal's Message
Greeting Hiteon Families,
The last year has been a journey for all of our students, their families, and our staff. We are excited that the vast majority of our students will be able to stay with their current teacher! We will be sending class confirmation to all families and students soon. We are looking forward to the future, and it is beginning to show glimpses of what once was a school full of children learning and laughing. We realize that some families might want to revisit their choice of Hybrid or CDL. We are open to inquiries for a possible change, please contact the main office by Wednesday, March 10th. Below are the criteria used to determine the ability of each school to accommodate a change request.
If you previously chose Hybrid but would like to switch to CDL, you can do that. Contact your school office to request the move.
If you previously chose CDL but would like to switch to Hybrid, you may be able to do that. You’ll need to contact your school principal to see whether the class counts and space availability will allow for the change. If not, your student will be placed on a waiting list.
For students returning to Hybrid, it is essential to remember that schools will not be exactly as they were a year ago. Students will be asked to remember the Three Ws:
Wear a mask
Wash your hands
Watch your distance 6 ft.
We ask families that have students returning to the building for Hybrid learning to have their child(ren) practice wearing a mask for more extended periods of time. Two hours might be hard for some of our students. Also, discuss what 6 feet looks like and feels like. Anything we can do to pre-teach these things is appreciated.
For those students who are staying in Comprehensive Distance Learning, they will continue learning with their current teacher. The main difference is it will only be in the afternoon.
The staff at Hiteon appreciates the support and respect given to us throughout the past year. We are humbled by our community’s “Hiteon Heart”!
Best,
Meghan Warren, Principal
Jenny Read-Emslie, Assistant Principal
