UNDERCLASSMEN ABSENTEE & RETAKE PHOTOS ARE ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 10 | Please read this post on the Haven Yearbook site for more information. Photos have been delivered to first-block teachers for distribution, and should be arriving home on Friday or Monday afternoon; the deadline to request a retake is Monday night at 8 p.m.

AP Registration: Attention students enrolled in an Advanced Placement (AP) course this fall. Please complete this form and submit payment to Mrs. Seifrit in the counseling office for all fall and yearlong AP classes. The deadline is November 15th.

Scholarship Opportunities
The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program at The University of Texas at Dallas is a full-ride scholarship and includes tuition, stipends and enrichment resources, including study abroad funding. While a generous merit award, it is a serious commitment requiring students to excel academically and demonstrably contribute through leadership and service on campus and beyond. The UT Dallas application and Academic Honors Program application are due 12/1. The McDermott Scholars Program application is due Early 2023. Scholarship: Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union Foundation is committed to education of youth in our community. The John D. Unangst Memorial Scholarship application is now open for high school seniors! Details below:
- One-time $3,000 scholarship for high school seniors who will be attending a full time course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, trade, technical or business school
- Five (5) students will be awarded this scholarship
- Applications must be submitted online by January 15, 2023

Daughters of the American Revolution Scholarship Opportunities for Graduating high school seniors, college, and graduate students in varied areas of study. Applicants must be citizens of the United States of America (USA). Applicants must attend or plan to attend an accredited college or university in the USA.
NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: There are 26 National scholarships available via https://www.dar.org/national-society/scholarships. Students submit their applications directly through the portal: https://dar.academicworks.com/. The portal is open to receive applications from November 1, 2022 to January 31, 2023.
STATE SCHOLARSHIPS: There are 4 state scholarships available via the online application found on pssdar's public website https://acrobat.adobe.com/link/track?uri=urn%3Aaaid%3Ascds%3AUS%3A2df612f9-0bf3-3488-9a88-dfa18b01d78c&viewer%21megaVerb=group-discover. A local chapter must sponsor a student for a PSSDAR scholarship. The Chapter can sponsor more than one student and multiple students for the same scholarship. Applications must be postmarked to the local DAR Chapter by February 15, 2023. Chapter regents and/or chairs must scan and email the applications to the state chair (darsholarships@pssdar.org) by March 15, 2023. Incomplete applications will be disqualified. Sponsoring chapters and the winners will be notified by May 15, 2023.
Foundation 649, a non-profit dedicated to discovering and empowering young, talented Asian Americans who are actively shaping our cultural and social identity. Foundation 649 is currently accepting applications for our 2023 scholarship to graduating AsianAmerican/ Pacific Islander high schoolers (5 awards of $4,000 USD spread over 4 years). DCTS will begin accepting applications for the next school year on December 15th. You can start signing up for visits now! SCHEDULE A VISIT TO THE TECH SCHOOL: Students and parents are invited to sign up now to participate in one of the visitation dates that will occur January through March at the DCTS campuses. Student visits are scheduled by Ms. Smith. Parents email DCTS counselor from appropriate campus to register for one of the dates below (choosing either 9am or 1pm). Parent tours last approx. 30min. Adolescence and the Autistic Child
Please see the below flyer for a presentation and panel discussion which will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, November 16th at SHMS in the library. The event features two extraordinary professionals who work closely with the district on behalf of our students. In partnership with one of our parent groups (NEAT), we will have some light refreshments just prior to the event.
