Safety Drills
In an effort to make sure our students and faculty understand and know what to do in the case of emergencies, we are planning several practice drills during the year.
The safety of your child(ren) and all children in our schools as well as the safety of the school staff and support personnel is very important to us. In order to maintain a safe environment for our children to study and learn, it is necessary that we practice our emergency and crisis response procedures by having drills designed to exercise our procedures. Some of these drills include procedures we practice monthly, our fire drills for example, and some we practice only a few times during the year. The students and staff of our school will be practicing 3 primary emergency drills each year. They are FIRE drills, EARTHQUAKE drills, and LOCKDOWN/SECURE CAMPUS drills.
On Friday, January 26th, Emory practiced our second lockdown drill of the school year. During the drill students were instructed to follow the directions of the adults. The doors were locked and lights turned off. The drill lasted approximately 5 minutes. All staff members were aware of the drill ahead of time and able to ensure that all students had the best possible environment for the drill.
We encourage all families to talk with their student about the importance of safety drills.

Asset Management Superintendent's Advisory Committee
As part of phase 2, Redefine, we are redefining what success looks like for our students, staff, families, and community. Part of this process includes assessing our facilities to ensure that our sites are running efficiently and aligned with the needs of the community we serve. To assist with this goal, the District is establishing a Superintendent’s Advisory Committee (SAC) to serve in an advisory role to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees.
The purpose of the SAC is to evaluate and determine with a student-centric focus the most efficient ways to continue to operate the District’s school site facilities. In collaboration with an outside consulting firm (EH&A/MGT), the SAC will develop and evaluate numerous options on how to more efficiently use the District’s school sites to meet the needs of students and staff.
The SAC will meet several times over the next few months to develop a recommendation for the future use of school site facilities. This recommendation will be presented to the Board at a Special Board Meeting for a final decision sometime in the late spring.
For more information, please click here.
Submit your questions, concerns, and comments via this form.
