It's Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week

The best part of being a principal is having a chance to visit the classrooms and witness the wonderful things happening each day. I have had the privilege of seeing teachers filled with excitement and joy as they teach lessons. That joy often hides the exhaustion and long hours that go into planning a day's worth of lessons, grading papers and setting improvement plans. But, I see the hard work that they put in to make each day seem so easy for the students. I see the time they take to help a struggling student. I see the extra care they give a student who got up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. I witness the patience they exude when a student exhibits some attention-seeking behaviors.

Please take a moment during the week to thank the teachers, specialists, learning specialists and other staff members for all the work they do to create a wonderful school experience for your child(ren). Send a card, an email, a morning cup of coffee/tea. Buy them lunch or have your child make them a picture. Regardless, the teachers and staff will appreciate your kindness. Their work matters and they deserve a million "thank you's" for everything they do each day for your children.

Thank you to everyone who has already registered their children for the various summer offerings. The registrations are open until MONDAY, May 8.

Kid Power Summer Care Registration is almost full. Please click here if you are interest in registering.

If you are interested in ordering a summer skills workbook for math, language arts, Spanish, study skills or keyboarding, please complete the attached form and return it to the school office with a check. There are samples in the office that you can check out if you would like to see them before you order. The books are $20 each. It is recommended that you order the grade level that your child just completed and not the next grade as they have not learned that material yet. Orders are due by Friday, May 19th.

For each completed workbook that is returned to the office during the back to school night event your child will receive a prize.

St. Joe's Home & School will be hosting the Gerten's Plant Sale Pick-up AND a Spirit Wear Sale on Wednesday, May 10 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. in the Church Parking Lot and we're looking for volunteers to help us! If you're interested in volunteering, you can find the sign-up here. Many hands make light work on this busy day and we appreciate any time you can spare! We know that Grandparents are very special to our students. We are inviting all Grandparents to join us for a special Mass on Friday, May 19 and to view the art show following the Mass. We hope to see you there.

Due to our Muffins with Moms event on Friday, May 12th, chess club will be held on Thursday, May 11 at 7:30am.

Please log into your student lunch account provided through ISD 197, the mypayments plus system to check on your child's account balance. Lunch accounts balances must be paid prior to the end of the school year. Any outstanding balances will be changed to you through your TADS account this summer. We need your used uniforms and spirit wear!

Did your child have a growth spurt and now their uniform is too small? We have a bin where you can drop off bags of used uniforms anytime! It is located in the main entryway to the school, at the top of the stairs, underneath the table. Please feel free to bring items anytime you're around the school, or send them with your child. We accept gently-used uniforms, uniform accessories, spirit wear, gym uniforms, and holiday shirts (Halloween, Christmas, and Valentine's Day). We are grateful for your support!
