GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Eastview's Virtual Food Drive
Eastview High School is holding a Virtual Food Drive through Friday, December 20th. We are collecting cash, checks (made out to 360 Communities) and gift cards.
The cash and checks will go to local food shelves so they can buy in bulk and also buy fresh fruit, veggies, dairy and bread products without fear of them spoiling. We want to help support the 30,000+ people in Dakota County who are food insecure and rely on our local food shelves!
The gift cards (from Cub, Target, Walmart, Hy-Vee, gas stations and local restaurants like Culvers, Subway, Jimmy Johns, etc.) will help us support our EVHS students and families meet weekend food needs and transportation costs.
Students can bring donations to Advisory on Wednesday, December 13th and Wednesday, December 20th. Our goal is to raise $5000 for our community!
The need in our community is great…but our generosity and collective power to make a difference can be even greater! Let’s come together and do our part to help our neighbors in need. #letsgive #virtualfooddrive

UPDATE: There will be no WIN Wednesday on January 3.
Starting Wednesday, November 1st, students can benefit from an opportunity for academic support every Wednesday afternoon from 2:40pm – 4:15pm in the Learning Commons. Students are supported to complete their schoolwork learning in a supervised setting. Faculty and staff are available along with upper-class peer tutors (especially skilled in Mathematics). Students will identify their priorities (“What I Need” or “What’s Important Now”), create a plan for the most efficient use of their time, celebrate their accomplishments, and leave with a plan for continued success. Students do not need to sign up in advance for WIN Time. We do ask that students plan to be there for the start at 2:40pm so they can benefit from the full support. We will keep a log of students and their engagement (arrival/departure time and their focus/work while they are there). For students needing transportation home, activity buses will be available departing at 4:45pm.

ATHLETICS SCOREBOARD
BOYS HOCKEY
Eastview’s Boys Varsity Hockey team spotted Lakeville South a 4-1 lead and could not catch the Cougars in a 6-3 South Suburban Conference loss at the Apple Valley Sports Arena on Saturday, December 16. The Lightning dropped to 3-1 in conference play, falling behind Lakeville South, Shakopee and Rosemount in the standings. Eastview managed only four first-period shots and was whistled for six penalties during the game. Senior Forward Jordan Brothers kept the Lightning in the game with two goals. Senior Defenseman Kevin Woehler then cut South’s lead to 4-3 at 7:55 of the third period, scoring on a nice pass from Senior Forward Billy Downs. Minutes later, the Lightning were threatening to tie during extended offensive zone time. But an errant pass led to a Cougar breakaway goal and a 5-3 South lead. An empty net goal followed at 1:38 for the 6-3 final. The Lightning get a chance to redeem themselves against South this Saturday, December 23, at 3:00 p.m. at Lakeville Hasse Arena. Eastview also plays two non-conference games at Victoria Ice Arena this week: on Tuesday, December 19 against Chanhassen and on Thursday, December 21 against Holy Family. Both games start at 7:00 p.m.
The Boys JV Hockey Team faced Lakeville South on Saturday. Lakeville got out to a 2 to 0 lead in the first period. They added 2 goals in the 2nd period before Cole Hille scored for Eastview with an assist from Mason Gillis. Lakeville answered with 2 additional goals. The Cougars got their final goal towards the end of the 3rd period. Ty Young faced 37 shots. The Boys JV Team will play a non-conference game in Chanhassen tonight at 5pm.
GIRLS HOCKEY
The Eastview Girls Hockey Team lost another close game on Saturday to Lakeville South. After a scoreless first period, the Lightning went up 1-0 on a goal by Sari Cords assisted by Erin Hayward. Unfortunately, the lead only lasted a couple of minutes as Lakeville came back and scored to tie it up 1-1. Regulation ended with no additional goals and unfortunately, Lakeville South was able to put the game winner away with only 9 seconds remaining in overtime. Beth Bigalke played in goal for Eastview and stopped 35 of 37 shots on net. Eastview will host Somerset on Thursday night at 6pm at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.
