Gospel Reflection
My Sheep Hear My Voice
What does Jesus give us through the resurrection? The simple yet profound answer is found in Sunday's gospel: ‘My sheep hear my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life.’ Through the power of the resurrection, Jesus shares with us what the Father shared with him; he gives us what the Father gives him, eternal life. This is a free gift; we can’t do anything to deserve it, warrant it or demand it. Yet, it does require some response on our part, and again we find this in our gospel.
How do we come know Jesus in a personal way with an intimate friendship? We experience Jesus through hearing his voice and then following him. Jesus never stops calling each of us personally; He reaches out to us when he says ‘I call you by your name, you are mine.’ And then having being called out love, we are invited and even challenged to follow him. Each of us follows Jesus in our own unique and sacred way according to our own baptismal call. During this Easter season, we pray that we will appreciate the gift of eternal life that is being made available to us, that we listen to the voice of Jesus calling and that we will follow him.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Fun Run:
Thanks to everyone for supporting the recent Fun Run. We had a wonderful day last Monday. I would ask you to send in your money with the pledges soon as possible. You will also receive emails from the company that organized it for us.
Washington DC Trip:
This Saturday our 8th graders will be heading off to Washington DC for 5 days. Thanks to Mr. Ceja for organizing the trip and to our 8th grade parent chaperones for volunteering to assist with supervision. You can follow the trip and see photos from a special web site
( https://sites.google.com/view/2019washingtondctrip/home ) that we have created.
Spring Musical and Art Show
Tomorrow Friday May 17th we have our Spring Musical at 3 pm in the Church. The Art Show will coincide with the Musical and will be held in the Cafeteria. Parents may come to the Art show from 2 pm onwards and then head across to the Church. The Art Show will remain open until 5:30pm. Thanks to Mrs. Navarro our music teacher and to Ms. Garza, our band teacher for organizing the musical and to Mrs Carter, our Art teacher for organizing the Art Show.
End of Year Financials
A reminder to everyone that all financials need to be submitted by May 30th to Ms. Escobar. Families will not be able to receive report cards or yearbook if financials are not up to date. Continuation for the upcoming school year will also be placed on hold.
Graduation for 8th Grade
Once the 8th graders return from the Washington DC trip they will be preparing for their graduation week beginning Tuesday May 28th. We wish our 8th graders all the best for the future.
God Bless,

STUDENT COUNCIL NEWS
FOURTH GRADE SERVICE PROJECT
Last week the 4th graders brought in candy, made cards, and assembled treat bags for our South San Francisco Firefighters to honor them on Firefighter Appreciation Day.
The students learned about what firefighters do and why we appreciate them while creating the 'kits'. The “Firefighter Survival Kit” included eight different types of candy such as Lifesavers to 'remind them of them many times they've been one', Smarties to 'give them wisdom in those split second decisions', Mounds for 'the mounds of courage they show' , and Peppermint Patties to 'help them keep their cool.'
They put together 34 bags for Miss Rose-Marsh to deliver to several stations throughout South San Francisco! We love and appreciate our Firefighters!

BOX TOPS
Box Tops for Education was started by General Mills in California back in 1996, after the company decided they wanted to create a program to help support education and benefit America’s schools. All Souls has benefitted from this program over the years, receiving sports equipment, microscopes, and a variety of other educational items.
You can help by clipping the Box Tops off approved products you already have in your pantry. You don't need to clip the actual product UPC — just the Box Tops logo will do. From frozen foods to produce and household cleaning products, there are literally hundreds of opportunities to help, and each Box Top is worth 10 cents. Doesn't sound like a lot, but it adds up fast.
There are so many participating companies! Participating companies and product lines include General Mills, Green Giant, Totino's, Pillsbury, Old El Paso, Ziploc, Hefty, Juicy Juice, Betty Crocker and many more. For a full list of eligible items check the Box Tops for Education website at https://www.boxtops4education.com/earn .
