World Traveling Student Groups & Many Upcoming Ways to Support the GMSD Neighborhood
I hope you had a great spring break and are ready to tackle Quarter Four. I encourage all of you to subscribe to our GMSD calendars. As we near the end of the year, it seems there’s something going on every night.
Over the break, GMSD sent groups across the world. The Houston Orchestra made a trip to England, where they performed at the resting place of William Shakespeare, and other incredible venues. Also in England, our Houston Boys Soccer Team spent the week practicing and staying at the world-renowned Manchester City training facility. Our Houston Choirs made the journey to Los Angeles, California, getting a chance to perform in tinsel town and tour some of the city's famous sites and sounds. Just this weekend our Riverdale Choirs were in the most magical place on Earth to perform and spend time in the parks. I wonder where our groups will go next.

Coach David Wolff Achieves a career milestone with 800 victories last week
Houston's high school soccer coach, David Wolff, achieved a career milestone by winning his 800th career victory with a 3-0 victory over the ECS Eagles. He is the winningest soccer coach in the area and has coached both boys and girls on the local varsity level since 1996. Wolff has won 14 state championships and guided his girls' team to a perfect season of 25-0 in 2017, earning the national championship title by USA Today. Despite his impressive record, Wolff remains humble and acknowledges that his success is not just measured by wins and losses. He is now in his 54th separate season, surpassing the legendary basketball coach Jerry Peters, who won 1,001 games.

GMSD welcomes Leadership Germantown for Education Day
Germantown Education Day took place on March 22nd, providing an opportunity for community members to experience the local schools firsthand. The event began with a welcome and breakfast with the Superintendent, followed by the Great GMSD Goose Chase scavenger hunt. During the scavenger hunt, participants discovered how schools keep students healthy, tried their hand at teaching, solved a mechantronics mystery, explored new spaces, and more.
The activities tied into leadership lessons that were discussed during interactive breakout sessions later in the day. Participants also had the chance to meet GMSD Student Interns and Ambassadors and work with Houston High School business communication students to take their class projects to the next level. The event was a fun and informative way for community members to learn about the schools in the area.

Student Spotlight: The Stang Gang Perform at the FedEx Forum
We're thrilled to showcase The Stang Gang, our mixed ability cheer squad, who recently performed at the half-time show during the Grizzlies game. This incredible opportunity was made possible by the generous support of Adam Smith Plumbing, who covered the some costs associated with tickets for the students. The Stang Gang delivered a spectacular performance, showcasing their enthusiasm, spirit, and talent. We're incredibly proud of these amazing students and grateful for the support of Adam Smith Plumbing. This is yet another example of the wonderful GMSD Neighborhood, where everyone comes together to support each other and make dreams come true. Well done, Stang Gang!
