Schoolwide Attendance Goal
Our goal is that we will have at least 95% daily average attendance 13 out of 17 school days in November. If we meet our goal we will have a schoolwide celebration!
What is 95% daily average attendance? This means that 95% of students are in attendance on that school day. You might notice on the calendar below that Mondays and Fridays seems to be trickier days in terms of meeting our goal, and this last week of October has been trickier as well.
Hopefully, now that we are aware that these days seem to be a pattern, we can all be mindful of the importance of attending school 5 days per week!

SCHOOL-WIDE T-SHIRT ORDER!
Silver Springs Families~
Recently we asked all students to submit designs for a school-wide t-shirt contest! These t-shirts can be worn at all school-wide assemblies, class field trips, Leadership Day (12/15) and on NEST days (students working together on community building activities).
To express our school unity, we are hoping that every student and staff member order one t-shirt to be worn on the days listed above. These t-shirts will be used for the next two years, so please order the size accordingly.
ORDERS AND PAYMENT OF ONLY $5 ARE DUE BY NOVEMBER 7TH. If you have any questions or if ordering this t-shirt presents a financial hardship for your family, please contact Tanya Murphy at (murphyta@northvilleschools.org) in the front office for assistance.
Order forms already came home in Monday Envelopes. Please click the button below for another order form.

Are you ready for “Sock”tober? The Community Service Action Team will be sponsoring their first project of the year during the month October. We will be collecting new socks of all colors and sizes throughout the entire month. Donations will be given to the Wayne County Family Center in Westland. We will be having a competition between upper and lower elementary with the winning team earning a pajama day! Students may put their donations in the appropriately labeled boxes (upper or lower elementary) near the front entrance of the school. Let’s synergize to make Socktober a success!

Silver Springs Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting
Greetings Silver Springs Families,
It is time for our Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting. Over the years, we have found that many families prefer to view the presentation as a video, so we recorded our presentation so you can listen to it at a time that is convenient for you.
The purpose of the Annual Title I Parent Meeting is to share with you Silver Springs participation in Title 1 programming, to explain the requirements of Title 1 and to explain your rights as Title 1 parents. Additionally, we will share with you what Title 1 means, how Title 1 funds are used at Silver Springs, what a School Improvement Plan is, more about our School-Parent Compact, and to share with you how to get involved at Silver Springs.
Please click the following link to view the video (or click the video below): https://youtu.be/PzX6y5wgjW8
Once you have watched the video, we encourage you to complete the following survey to give us feedback and to ask any questions that you may have.
Survey Link: https://forms.gle/GePi8NbiqRfyPJhc9
Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to view the presentation.

Don’t Scrap the App!
The Michigan School Meals program supplements the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program, meaning that parents of students who would otherwise be eligible for free or reduced meals should continue to submit applications for free or reduced meals for their students. Even though meals will be free this year, it is vitally important that parents who meet, or believe they may meet, the free and reduced income guidelines, submit an application to ensure maximum benefits for their students and the District.
Some of these benefits include: athletics and activities discounts for student fees associated with participating in athletics and activities programs, SAT/ACT/AP test discounts for academic testing, college application discounts for college application fees, discounted internet access services, federal/state/local school funding for school budgets, Summer EBT.
Make sure to fill yours out today https://links.northvilleschools.org/1a

• 100% of funds will benefit Silver Springs students, staff, and school. No third-party companies hogging fundraiser profits.

SCHOOLWIDE DIRECTORY – COMING SOON!!
The SS PTA has started work on the annual Silver Springs Schoolwide Directory. This awesome little book helps to forge friendships and make connections outside of school. The directory will come in two formats:
1. A print edition – Every Silver Springs household will receive one FREE copy.
You do not have to be a PTA member – all families will get one!
2. An electronic edition – this will be a searchable PDF format, posted on the password-protected PTA member portal. Access to the online version will only be for PTA members – another perk of membership!
If you do want your contact information printed in the directory, there is no further action.
All students will automatically be included unless you opt out.
The contact information that will be included (unless you opt out) will be:
Student First Name, Student Last Name, Student Grade, Student Class Teacher
Parent / Guardian Name(s)
Home Address
Parent Email
Phone Number
If you do NOT want your student’s contact information listed, you may choose to OPT OUT.
To opt out, please complete this form by Friday, November 3rd.
Note: If you have a unique circumstance and need to change the information that will be printed (e.g., the child lives at a different residence than the info in your MiStar / Parent Connection portal), please contact us at silverspringsPTA_directory@yahoo.com to request special changes.
The PTA plans to print and distribute the directory in December. Please stay tuned to the Eagle Express, PTA social media, and the PTA website for updates. www.silverspringspta.com
A flyer came home in Monday envelopes on October 16th for more details about the directory.

LEADER IN ME FOCUS FOR THE MONTH - HABIT 1 BE PROACTIVE
Each month we will send home a 7-Habits activity for students and families to do together. The activity will come home in Monday envelopes and are due at the end of the month.
Please send the completed activities back to school so we can proudly display them in your child's classroom.
October At Home Activity
This month’s Habit: Habit 1 Be Proactive
Activity: You're in Charge
Due Date: October 31st
Habit 1 – Be Proactive – “I’m in Charge of Me”
What this means: Take charge of your own life. Make it happen. Don't wait for someone else to do it.
“I am responsible for me.”
“I do the right thing before I am asked.”
“I do the right thing even when no one is looking.”
“I do not blame others for my actions.”
How can I do this in my life?
1. If you do something wrong, say you are sorry before someone asks you to apologize.
2. When you get mad and want to say something, stop, think, and ask yourself-
Why am I getting so angry? Make a good choice in a good way.
