Prayer
God, our Creator, you created the world in your image,
so we can rejoice in the joy of creation
and get to know you through its beauty.
Show us how to care for the earth, for life and for human dignity,
not only for today, but also for the ages to come.
Do not let our projects or our actions
harm or destroy the beauty of your Creation.
Send us your Spirit, so we can be aware of the value of life and of the planet.
AMEN.
Welcome to St Thomas' Pre Kindy
We know you will join us in making them and their families feel very welcome.
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Dear Parents and Caregivers
World Environment Day
Last Friday was World Environment Day, an international day of environmental awareness and action. Our Year 2 students, who tender our school vegetable garden, have been learning about an easy way to recycle food scraps in a school environment and how we help a garden to thrive, while reducing waste, improving soil and protecting water quality.
Sporting Colours Day – Friday 12 June
On Friday, students from Pre-Primary to Year 6 will participate in a fundraiser for Lifelink 2020. Students may wear sporting colours for the day instead of their school uniform. Please send in a gold coin donation with your child to support those who are less fortunate.
Uniform Requirements
It has been wonderful to see students wearing the correct school uniform during these winter months. Our school uniform provides a sense of belonging and pride of association in students at St Thomas’ School. A copy of the uniform policy can be accessed here:

P & F Meeting 7pm Monday 15 June

Semester One Reports will not include grades but will include an indication as to whether students are above expected level, at expected level or working towards expected level.
This report will provide information about the student’s learning progress to date.
UNDERSTANDING THE SEMESTER ONE REPORT 2020
Student Learning Progress Student's learning progress to date will be noted as:
· 1 = Above Expected Level
· 2 = At Expected Level
· 3 = Working Towards Expected Level
Learning area - student work scale.
The grading scale used to determine student effort in each learning area:
· A = Always
· F = Frequently
· U = Usually
· I = Intermittently
· N = Never
Just a reminder ...
The grass verge directly outside the school office is a no standing/no parking area and we encourange you not to use it as the Claremont Rangers impose hefty fines if you are caught! We know its very difficult with the current weather conditions and at times when you are running late for an appointment. If this is the case and you cannot find parking nearby as long as you are briefly dropping off or picking up your child from the office, you can park for 5 minutes in our driveway, outside the basketball court gates on College Road. Please do not park there just before we open the gates for either drop off or pick up, as this will restrict the flow of traffic for others and may cause cars waiting in the line to also be fined by the Town of Claremont.
Thank you for your assistance.
SEQTA Engage
Thank you to all the families who have set up SEQTA Engage. A new Welcome Email will be generated to families who have not yet created an account. Please click on Set up Account on this email and create a Username and Password and follow the prompts. Further instructions are on the St Thomas’ website if required.
https://www.stthomas.wa.edu.au/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/SEQTA-Engage-Instruction-Manual.pdf
It is very important for all families to set up SEQTA Engage as this will be the platform in which you are able to access your child’s academic reports.
Please note your SEQTA Engage page will contain no reports. Reports will go live and be available to view and download during the last week of Term Two 2020.
Kind regards

Lots of fun and learning with Mr. Wray and his worm farm!
The Year Two Class have been caring for the garden and planting vegetables. This week they had a wonderful educational visit from Mr. Wray who bought in hundreds of juicy worms. Mr. Wray showed the children how to establish a worm farm. He talked about the value of composting and the wonderful benefits of a worm farm. The Year Two children are looking forward to using the worm juice on the vegetable patch. They are also going to encourage the other children in the school to add to the compost for the worms. A big thank you to Mr Wray for making the afternoon so special.
