ACCESS for ELLs 2024 Test
Students who are identified as English Learners in grades K-12 will participate in the online ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 language proficiency test. A test is required by the federal government to monitor a child's progress in acquiring English. ACCESS for ELLs is the test MN gives to meet these requirements. Identified students will test sometime between February 20-March 15. Even though this test is required by state and federal laws, parents have the right to refuse their child’s participation in it.

Los estudiantes identificados como estudiantes de inglés en los grados K-12 participarán en la prueba de dominio del idioma ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 en línea. El gobierno federal exige una prueba para comprobar el progreso de un niño en la adquisición del inglés. ACCESS para ELL es la prueba que MN realiza para cumplir con estos requisitos. Los estudiantes identificados tomarán el examen entre el 20 de febrero y el 15 de marzo. Aunque este examen es requerido por las leyes estatales y federales, los padres tienen el derecho de rechazar la participación de sus hijos.

February is I Love To Read Month
February is “I Love To Read Month”! The SPPS Reads team and SPPS Libraries have prepared several month-long student activities, including a bookmark contest and reading bingo. Our students will be participating in the bookmark contest in the library and Ms. Johnson our Library TA will be sharing Reading Bingo cards for you to do with your students at home.
SPPS READS TOGETHER CHALLENGE:
Monday, Feb. 26: Set a timer and have every family member participate in a reading activity for at least 20 minutes, such as independent reading, reading a book together, or listening to an audiobook or podcast.
Tuesday, Feb. 27: Read or tell your child a story in your home language.
Wednesday, Feb. 28: Write a mini-story as a family: Tell the story of your family in six words or less and share it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #SPPSReads. Click here to see examples.
Thursday, Feb. 29: Join the SPPS Reads Together virtual read-aloud with a special guest at 6:30 p.m. A link will be shared closer to the date.
Friday, Mar. 1: Visit the Saint Paul Public Library or choose a book from SPPS’s collection of e-books on MackinVIA to continue your reading journey into the next month!
