Mrs. Gihring's 1st Grade

What we are learning:

• Spelling/Reading: Spelling Test Friday on the /s/ sound with "s", "ss", "c", and "ce" spelling and the /z/ sound with "z", "zz", and "s" spelling.
  
• Language Arts & Science: We are learning all about the different animal habitats around the world.
• Math: We are working on adding and subtracting with double digit numbers (Module 13).

Upcoming Important Dates:

• May 6th - 10th: Clancy's birthday celebration week
• May 10th: 1st grade zoo field trip!
• May 13th - 17th: Hallie's birthday celebration week
• May 15th - 17th: our final i-ready state math test. Please help your child get a good nights rest and a filling breakfast.
• May 27th: No School, Memorial Day
• May 30th: Sunnyside Field Day!
• May 31st: Last day of school, 1st grade park picnic field trip!

Monday-Thursday: 8:20-2:25

(first bell rings at 8:15)

Friday: Late start 9:20-2:25

(first bell rings at 9:15)

*Please report absences to the office as soon as possible.

Our class will eat lunch from 10:45-11:05 and go to recess from 11:05-11:25. Your student can bring lunch from home or buy lunch in the cafeteria. There are two hot lunch options every day that your child can choose from. A lunch menu will come home with your student monthly.

We have Counselor every Monday at 11:30.

Students will participate in specials on Tuesday afternoons.

• Music 12:15-12:45 pm

• Art: 12:45-1:15 pm

• PE: 1:15-1:45 pm (Don't forget to wear gym shoes!)

• Library: 1:45-2:15 pm
