Seniors, this Fall has been busy working on college applications. Early action deadlines have passed. You might still be working on applications for regular decision. Take a moment this Thanksgiving to enjoy time with family and friends. Enjoy a family tradition or start a new one. We appreciate our students and their families. Thank You for allowing us to serve your family as you plan your future.

This newsletter has some reminders, some information and a few tips that might help you. Please remember to reach out to us with any questions, concerns or needs. We are here to help.

We have 244 seniors in the Crosby Senior Program, and it is challenging to keep up with everyone. In an effort to see where everyone is and what type of help is still needed, I am asking that you complete the 2024 College Application Status Survey. You need to complete this ESPECIALLY if you are done and don't need additional support!

We will use this survey to determine future resources needed, communicate information about specific scholarships, and direct opportunities from other sources to the appropriate students, based on Path, Schools and Major.

Please complete this Survey by December 15, 2023.

Please watch the video to learn the process for applying for scholarships. We have 2 open now and will be opening more each month. Seniors can apply for as many of our scholarships as they are eligible for. Please make sure you complete your requirements.

Every senior is required to attend an academy by January 30, 2024. Many of you have already met that requirement. We will continue to offer programs not only for those who need academy credit but for all seniors that would benefit from the information.

SELF PACED ACADEMY

1. Financial Literacy - CFNC.org - COMPLETE 6 Modules with 80% pass rate using the Crosby Code. Link to Literacy Academy --- CODE 46A8A3-23-24
2. YouScience- Career Exploration Evaluation -Sign up for the 1/31 Academy and a link will be sent to you to complete the aptitude and interest evaluation at your own pace.

If you still need to meet this requirement, please register in your portal now for the academies that best match your needs and schedule.

At Crosby Scholars, we provide free essay review for your college applications. Crosby's team of generous reviewers are eager to read your writing, but with Early Action deadlines occuring, we ask that you please submit your essays in advance to ensure timely feedback. While turnaround times can vary, we aim to return feedback within 7 business days.

So, if you have a November 15th deadline, you should be submitting your essay to mroseboro@crosbyscholarsiredell.org by Friday, November 3rd at the latest to ensure you'll receive feedback before your deadline.

What do you reveal about yourself through your social media accounts? Do colleges consider any of this information while making admissions decisions? Some do! Think of your social media page as your electronic resume.

· Review Honor Codes at the colleges to which you submit applications

· Remember, colleges admit students to a community

· College proof your social media pages

· Google search yourself

· Don’t be afraid to show your personality, but consider your audience

· Watch posts from friends

· Be careful what you follow and like

Each Senior must complete a minimum of 2 hours of community service. The deadline for Seniors to complete the community service requirement and submit the signed form is January 31, 2024! You can submit any community service that you've completed since February. Click here to complete the google form to get credit for 23-24 Community Service. Complete the form and your student portal will be updated within 72 hours.

Senior advisor meetings are a requirement of the program. If you have not met with your senior advisor at all this fall but wish to continue in the program, you must contact Jenniffer Jamison (jjamison@crosbyscholarsiredell.org) immediately.

Fall Check In senior meetings are due by December 31st. You can find your senior advisor's contact information in your portal.

The goal of this Crosby Requirement is to ensure that each student is researching at least 4 schools to consider their future. Even if you are not attending a 4-year university, there are several community colleges that have different programs in this area that can be researched. Senior, if you have not completed this requirement, you will be receiving an email from Mrs. Reynolds. Please complete this form using this link. No signatures required.

The College Board’s CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE is an online application that collects financial information used by almost 400 colleges and scholarship programs to award financial aid from sources outside of the federal government. Unlike the FAFSA, the CSS/PROFILE is not free. It costs $25 to submit to the first school or program and $16 for each additional one. Click here to see if the colleges on your target list require the PROFILE before completing this application to avoid unnecessary costs. To complete the PROFILE, just log in using your College Board account (the same one you use for SAT and AP information).
