BWMS Family Update
2/23/24
WIN Day is Coming!
BWMS Community,
It was another fun week at BWMS.
Crazy how we keep inching closer and closer to the end of our 3rd quarter. With that said, we do have our next What I Need (WIN) Day next Friday. As a reminder, this is a day when we can spend the last hour of school engaged in a common activity of choice. The reason we place our WIN Day at this point in the quarter is so we can support students with their unique needs. We appreciate the opportunity to support positive relationships among students and staff during this time. Likewise, any additional academic support can be provided to students during an assignment intervention. Thank you to our staff as we continue to provide specialized programming to meet the needs of each student. Students will sign up for their WIN Day activity on Wednesday during Advisory, be sure to ask them how it was next week.
Enjoy the Weekend!
~Mr. Josh Frame

StopFinder Transportation App goes live March 4th
Big Walnut Local Schools will use a new parent app, Stopfinder, starting Monday, March 4. Stopfinder is the easy-to-use, all-in-one app that allows you to have the most accurate information about your student’s bus schedule at any time from anywhere. In addition to displaying your student’s transportation information, Stopfinder includes a private messaging feature allowing you to communicate directly with the Big Walnut Transportation Department. You can also create GeoAlerts for your student, which will notify you when the bus has arrived or departed from any location on your student’s route, including their assigned bus stop and school. GeoAlert Alert Zones can be created for individual students, allowing you to customize the Alert Zone based on their bus route.
The email address currently on file with the district will be used for the Stopfinder app setup. Please contact your school office if you need to change your primary email address before Friday, February 23.
Stopfinder can be downloaded for free from the App Store or Google Play. Stopfinder will require an invite and registration through the district before accessing your student’s transportation schedule. Please watch for a Stopfinder invitation, which will be emailed to your primary email address between Tuesday, February 27-Thursday, February 29. Please contact our Director of Administrative Services, Tim Wagner (TimWagner@bwls.net) with questions.
In the meantime, please watch this short video with a preview and mini tutorial of the Stopfinder app and all of the features you can use.

Parents:
Dear Parents & Guardians of upcoming 8th graders,
You are receiving this information in preparation for your child to make related arts requests for the 2024-2025 school year.
You have, or will, receive a document from your child's teacher with selected information from the BWMS Program of Studies. It describes how students are placed in core classes, and how they request related arts classes. Please read through this with your student, specifically looking at the descriptions of the courses available to 8th graders. You can access the entire 2024-2025 Big Walnut Middle School Program of Studies on the Big Walnut Middle School web page. There is nothing you need to do at this time but be aware of the process.
The only related arts that are guaranteed are Band, Choir, and Orchestra. Any other request is subject to availability, and your student may be scheduled into a course they did not request.
Please note the timeline:
January 16 through February 6: Ms. Corry Schull (Ms. Corry), MS Counselor, will go into 7th grade classes, review the request process, and collect student related arts requests
March 15: MS letter and student request home to parents for review
March 21: MS letter and student requests returned to the middle school
Mid August: Schedules for 2024-25 available on PowerSchool
If you have questions, please reach out to Corry Schull at the middle school: corryschull@bwls.net
