Principal's Message
Hello Springwater Students and Families,
What a phenomenal 2 weeks it has been! Last week's Community Care Day at Hogan Butte was a wonderful success: it was great to see so many students jumping in and giving back to their community.
This past Wednesday was our first ACCESS Wednesday of the school year. ACCESS Wednesdays occur at the 5th week of the grading period. The day provides students an opportunity to get additional help from teachers, catch up on assignments, and retake tests and quizzes. Teachers agree to not assign any new work on ACCESS Wednesdays. Leadership students also sprinkle in some fun, community-building activities throughout the day. The activities this week included Giant Ball Volleyball, karaoke, dodgeball, Lotería (in recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month), art activities, and much more! Students were incredibly positive and engaged throughout the activities.
Next week marks the final week of the 6-week grading period. There is no school on Thursday or Friday. Progress grades will be available in Parentvue the week of October 17th. We will notify you when grades have posted.
This coming Wednesday, October 12th is NOT a late start Wednesday. School will start at 7:35am and students will catch their bus at the same time as the other school days. The regular schedule is to accommodate those students who have signed up to take the PSAT.
Enjoy the weekend and, as always, reach out with questions or concerns!

Angie Baldridge
Future Plans After High School: I want to help rehabilitate sick, endangered animals. I’ve always wanted to help foster dogs; help pregnant animals, animals that are sick, get hit by a car, or they need help figuring out how to walk again.
Grade: 9
Interests: I do mixed martial arts. I like to hang out with my friends. I like watching football games, high school or college.
Favorite subject in school: Language Arts, because I like writing and I write in cursive so it always makes it more fun when I write. And I like reading books. I love reading.
Favorite thing about STHS: Probably meeting new people, because I knew everyone at Gresham. All my friends go there. Being here has helped me be around different people I haven’t met yet.
Mary Nashed
Future Plans After High School: Probably college. I may want to study marketing or maybe graphic design.
Grade: 10
Interests: I have some classes at church. Watching TV after them. I do have a favorite show, but most of them are in Arabic.
Favorite subject in school: Psychology, because Ramsey lets us talk and not do a lot of work. If I can say that?
Favorite thing about STHS: Probably how small the school is and how you can get to know every single person if you wanted to.
Emma Tilden
Future Plans After High School: Getting a job and working to get money for college. I would like to be an English major to be a writer.
Grade: 11
Interests: I like reading, writing. I like to draw and color. I like playing video games. My favorite is Minecraft.
Favorite subject in school: That’s kind of a hard one. I’ve never really had a favorite subject. I guess either Art (doing it is fun) or Math (because I’m good at that one).
Favorite thing about STHS: I like the openness of the community and how everyone interacts with each other. Just a lot of freedom that we have.

Springwater Attendance
If your son/daughter is going to be out for the day please call the office (503-261-4600) and let us know the reason why. Whenever the office is not notified of an absence, a call is made home via the automated calling system. If the student is going to be out more than three days, you can call the office or email your student's teachers with a request for homework. If your student is going to be out of school for extended period of time due to a vacation or some other event, please have him/her complete a Pre-arranged Absence Form. If your student needs to leave school early or arrive late due to appointments, please call the office or send a note to excuse their absence.
Electronic Flyers
Gresham-Barlow Distict has launched a new electronic flyer tool called “Peachjar.” This service allows us to “go green” and will ensure that every flier is delivered to each household. Peachjar will provide flyers directly to your computer, tablet or mobile device.
To view school-approved flyers, simply click the Peachjar button on your school’s website.
