LMHS Updates
for parents and families ... January 20, 2024
Semester 1 Report Cards
As you know, Semester 1 ended on Friday. Teachers will have until Thursday morning (January 25) to finalize grades in Focus. We'll then process everything, and we expect to issue report cards for semester 1 on either Thursday evening (January 25) or Friday, January 26. These report cards will be used to determine continued eligibility for winter student activities, including athletics. Report cards will be delivered to students and to parents/guardians by email. Note that you will receive two report cards per student: one with academic grades, and another with soft skills scores for each class.
Just a reminder -- for yearlong middle school courses, the semester 1 grade and the semester 2 grade (issued in June) will be averaged to determine a final yearlong grade. However, for high school yearlong courses, no yearlong averages are calculated and half credit is granted based upon the semester 1 grade in January, with the other half credit granted based upon the semester 2 grade in June.
A Fresh Start...
Here's wishing everyone a great second half of the school year! If you have any questions or concerns at any time, don't hesitate to contact us.
New Cell Phone Rules Start Monday
Just a reminder that our new cell phone (and related electronic device) rules go into effect on Monday, January 22. Between the first bell at 7:58 and the final bell at 2:30, cell phones (and related devices, including headphones, air pods, smart watches, etc.) should not be seen or heard at any time. Any that are, are subject to confiscation and will be held in the office. On a first offense, the student can pick up the device at the end of the school day; on subsequent offenses, a parent/guardian or other authorized adult will need to pick it up during regular office hours.
Together, we can ensure a safe, productive, and meaningful learning environment for everyone!
COVID Tests Available
The state has provided a supply of rapid COVID antigen tests to the school. Students and/or parents/guardians (and staff as well!) can stop by the office to pick up a 2-pack of the rapid tests at no charge. We will not be conducting testing in the school; these are for home use.
We have been told to expect further shipments of the tests throughout the remainder of the school year, so we hope to have this resource available to you for the foreseeable future.
Help Support the Class of 2027
All day on Monday, January 22 help support the Freshman Class!
A "Dine to Donate" event will be held at the Locker Room in Lee, with a portion of your bill going to support the Class of 2027.
Learn About Energy Efficiency
The Lee Greener Gateway Committee is sponsoring a panel discussion titled "Improving Residential and Business Energy Efficiency as a Necessary Climate Change Solution". There will be two guest speakers and hot beverages and goodies will be served. A sign-up sheet for a FREE MASS SAVE energy audit will also be available. See the flyer below for more information:
