DCSC Construction Update
Update #3
Construction continues at South Elementary!
Construction is still taking place at South Elementary, and if you couldn't envision the end results before, you will now! Over the last month, we have seen the room outlines start to look like actual rooms! It won't be long before the walls are all the way up, the roof is placed overhead and many smiling faces fill in the space to make it finally feel like school.
Keep reading for a brief overview of what is in the works.
Rooms Outlined and Labeled
As they continued outlining the rooms, they were able to begin clearly labeling what will be where. In the below photos, you can see what will soon become a men's restroom, storage for custodian use, a workroom, a teacher's lounge and a women's restroom.
Materials Delivered
So many new things were delivered to help construction move forward! These materials will help in constructing new walls and stabilizing our new structures!
Building a Sturdy Base
Every sound structure starts with a strong base. Slab of Grade (SOG) has been poured, and soon the surfaces below will be the sturdy ground that desks rest upon and tiny feet walk across.
Walls Going Up
That's right, we said that correctly...the walls are going up! It really makes the expansion feel real. In the photos below, you can see the masonry walls under construction. Masonry walls are made of materials such as brick, stone or concrete. In our case, we are using stone!
So much more to come!
As you might know, South is under construction now, and DCHS will be joining in on the fun during this school year. Below is our most recent video update about our Master Campus Plan.
