New & This Week
First Lego League Robotics Tournament
Our Robotics team participated in the FLL tournament at Mountain View High School on Dec 9th and won the Core Values award for their amazing presentation. The judges recognized our team as “Rising All-Star”. They appreciated how our team embraced each other’s differences and supported each other throughout the process. They also praised our innovation project skit, robot design summary, visual boards, props, and provided constructive feedback. We scored better than last year on all of these.
Many thanks to Dr. Shukla, Mr. Christensen, Mr. Yelinek and Mr. Westpheling for their leadership. Please congratulate the following students if you see them in the hallways or in class.

It's A Wrap
Yesterday we had a timed gift-wrapping competition during each lunch. It was supposed to be a competition between teachers, but during some lunches it became a student competition. Either way, it was a lot of fun. We only got pictures and video of one of these competitions. Student cheers were used to determine the winners.
French Crepes in French Club
OUR French Club made crepes this week. They look good.
If you're not sure how they did, ask them. It looks like they ate them, too! Makes me wonder if I should join French Club...?
Multi-lingual Learner Families, please join us in the Summerour cafeteria on Wednesday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m. We will discuss ESOL services, after-school tutoring options, family resources, and tips for your child's success. Pizza, SmarterME, and Adult ESL registration will be available as well.

Another Musical Triumph
OUR Orchestra's sounded amazing this week. What a performance!
Thank you to all of OUR music educators who are doing amazing work with OUR children.

Parent Resources
Georgia Parent Survey
The Georgia Parent Survey is designed to give parents an opportunity to share input with the Georgia Department of Education. It contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using a personal computer, smartphone, or tablet. Parents that do not have access to the Internet, should contact their child’s school to arrange to complete the survey at the school.
The data parents provide by completing this survey will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to system or school personnel or the public and will not be posted online. Please provide your voice for Gwinnett County Public Schools by clicking HERE and completing the survey.

Photos for Yearbook!
- We are using the Josten’s Replayit Photo Upload system yearbook photo submissions
- Upload directly from your computer or phone
- Follow the prompts to select your pics
- Type something in the “First Name”, “Last Name”, “Grade” and “Description”
- Don’t want to include names? Just type a single character in those spaces and move on
- Same applies to skip the description
- Grade doesn’t matter? Pick 12 so we won’t group them by grade
- If it matters, pick a grade
