My Talk With Tim - By: Adam Eyerly
Meet my friend Tim Conkin in 6th grade. Tim is my good friend. He is a talented person. He is a great person.
His favorite creator is Bo Burnham, a comedian/songwriter. He likes the Five Nights at Freddy's games and My Hero Academia. He is a funny guy. He’s always making jokes. He really doesn't let many people see this side of him. Only his close friend or the friends he has known for a long time.
He’s a great person if you get to know him. He can be annoying at times like most people can, but he is a great person. He really doesn’t like people or cameras so if he doesn’t like you don’t annoy him.
In conclusion, Tim likes anime videogames and comedy. Maybe you can get to know him too..
EDUCATION
Shortage On Teachers - By: Genesis Castillo
In the state of Michigan, there is up to 10,000 teachers a year leaving their jobs as teachers. Only up to 5,000 people are entering to be a teacher and not only is there a shortage of teachers but also bus drivers, substitute teachers, lunch workers etc. This is sadly mostly in Michigan.
Lots of people don’t want to sign up for being a teacher because they don't get paid well enough for what they do. Most teachers also have been quitting because of Covid. Same goes for substitute teachers. Some substitutes have been quitting because they've been scared to catch covid and give it to their family.
Can the shortage of teachers get worse? How can we fix this shortage?
Nearly 48% of teachers have thought of quitting in the last month. Some schools have classes in gyms because of the shortage, Some schools even had to shut down.
If a district is willing to pay more, they can get more teachers to sign up. They are telling the students that they will pay off their school loan or pay for their college so they can sign up to be a teacher. Federal programs for college loan forgiveness might encourage more teachers to look for jobs in high-needs schools.
Have you ever thought about going into the school system? We need committed, hard working people to keep our education system on the right track.
NEWS
Ukraine Invasion - By: Karrine Lopez
On February 23, 2022 Russia launched a full scale assault on Ukraine after weeks of warnings from the US and Western European leaders.
It was stated that the US had offered to fly Voldymyr Zelensky out of Ukraine, he had said “I need ammunition not a ride” and will stay in Ukraine alongside his wife Olenna Zelensky. Ukrainians now look up to Zelensky to protect them from the impending danger of the Russian military.
Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky will also speak virtually to members of the congress on Wednesday. News sources report "As war rages on in Ukraine, it is with great respect and admiration for the Ukrainian people that we invite all Members of the House and Senate to attend a Virtual Address to the United States Congress delivered by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine on Wednesday, March 16th at 9:00 a.m.,"
Just a little update Joe Biden called Vladimir Putin a “war criminal”.
This situation will change daily. Even though this is happening many miles away, it could have impacts here in the U.S.
