Free ESL Classes for Adults through CCS

Columbus City Schools (CCS) offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for adults. Summer classes are full, but you can sign up now for fall classes. To sign up, complete this online form, call 380-997-0900, or email your name, birth date and that you are interested in taking ESL classes to Sabine Kuehn at skuehn1112@columbus.k12.oh.us. High School Equivalency classes are also available for ESL students.

Phoenix Theaters Free Summer Movie Series picture

Phoenix Theaters (Lennox 20): Doors open at 9am for 10am showing on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays (6/7/22-8/11/22). Free admission, limited to theater capacity.

Reminders (Don't Forget)

Field Day: Volunteers Needed

Field Day at Gables ES is Tuesday, May 31. We will need family volunteers to assist with games and inflatables during the morning from 9am to 12pm. There is no signup before the day - just show up if you can and report to the gym to choose your game/activity.

If you cannot make the morning games, you are still invited to watch the afternoon games with your scholar. Afternoon games will begin at 2pm. Which teachers will be victorious in tug-of-war? Come find out! Look for flyers to be sent home next week.

Roll Call Role Models

Encourage your student to be a Roll Call Role Model by coming to school on time every day. Students who show improved attendance have a chance to win weekly prizes, including tickets to Columbus Clippers games and food coupons from White Castle and Donatos.

Latchkey Registration

Registration Dates & Times:

-Mon, May 16 - Fri - Registration for students currently enrolled in the latchkey program.

-Mon, May 23, 2022 - Registration for students enrolling in latchkey for the first time.

Save the date! All Gables families are invited to celebrate at Skate Zone 71 (4900 Evanswood Dr, Columbus, OH 43229) on Wednesday, May 25 from 5-8pm. Fifth graders who attend will be honored during the evening. More details to come.
