Principal's Update

Happy Thursday Wolves!

Just a reminder that there is no school tomorrow (Friday, December 1st). We have finished our first trimester of school, and our teachers will be working on report cards. All report cards will come home in Friday Folders on Friday, December 8th.

Join our Ridges PAC to help with our Holiday Gift Drive to brighten the holidays for families in our community! A collection box can be found in the front vestibule of the school.

All proceeds will go to the Share Center right here in Sherwood, and the donation sign-up link can be found here. If you don’t feel like signing up for an item, but would still like to donate, please feel free to Venmo @RidgesPAC and our PAC will send the SHARE center a check. The drive will run from now until December 7th.

Our Ridges picture retake day will be Thursday, December 7th. If your child missed our first picture day, information for ordering can be found linked here. If they would like to have retakes, please be sure to send their original photo packet to school with them on, or before, December 7th.

As we enter into cold and flu season we wanted to reshare the Oregon Health Authority's "Too Sick for School" Guidelines. Please note that there are not separate guidelines for Covid, and all sicknesses will follow the exclusion guidelines shared below . You can also click the link here to view a larger copy.

It's paper towel tube season again, and probably again later on. Ms Phillips and Mr. Evers will gladly accept paper towel tube donations for an upcoming 1st/2nd project. Students can drop them off in either STEM lab. We don't need any TP tubes though, just paper towel tubes.

In order to complete our yearbook, and other school related updates with student photos, we would like to ensure our student release of directory information is up to date. Directory information means those items of personally identifiable information contained in a student education record which are not generally considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if released. This could include photos of school events, yearbook photos, updates of student achievements in school newsletters, etc.

Under Sherwood School District 88J Policy JOA, directory information shall be released only with administrative direction and directory information considered by the district to be detrimental will not be released. Sherwood school district has parents update this information three times during a student's time in SSD. Once when entering Kindergarten, once when entering 6th grade, and once when entering 9th grade. Of course a parent can change or modify their wishes any time within a school year.

All students and families have the opportunity to opt out of Directory Information and to not allow their information to be released. Please complete this opt out form if you do NOT approve the release of your child’s directory information. Student directory information will be released with the absence of this Opt-Out form.

All volunteers will need to complete and have an approved background check on file prior to volunteering (this must be renewed each school year). The background check process can take 7-10 business days, so please allow sufficient processing time if you are planning to volunteer for a specific event.

The Ridges PAC meets on the first Tuesday of each month from 7-8:30 pm in the Ridges Community Room. They would love to have any and all parents attend!
