April 2022 Newsletter
Happy April
Dear Families and Staff,
We are nearly three quarters through the school year and along with longer days, the hope of warmer weather, Spring Break has arrived.
Over the past months, I have seen incredible leadership from our administration, teachers and staff while partnering with parents on behalf of students. We all should be very proud of the nurturing environment that exists in Eatonville while seeking to meet the academic, social, emotional and physical needs for our students.
I would like to thank the Board for the support and leadership they have provided our district during an incredible time. Their focus on putting students first has always guided us in the right direction.
I hope that during this Spring Break you are able to take the time to reflect, relax, and be with family and friends. Once we return, we will be in the home stretch making that final push to the end of the school year while providing guidance for students daily in order for them to be in position to chase their dreams.
All of this would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of all parents, community members and staff. Thank you for all you do for the students in the Eatonville School District. I appreciate your commitment and I am honored to be on your team!
Wishing you and your family the very best,
Gary Neal

Highly Capable Program Highlight
March Highlight
Our first middle school session was heavily focused on our passion projects and making sure we were ready to jump right in. Remaining students presented their pitches, worked on final plans, and began putting in materials requests. We also did some lego building challenges in honor of Read Across America Day (Dr. Seuss Day) and joined Columbia Crest Middle Schoolers for their read in. Students were gifted donuts by CCA leadership students too!
Our second session we worked on passion projects, solving two minute mysteries, and even did a St. Patrick's Day themed STEM project to celebrate! Our last session students attended a field trip to Pierce College Ft. Steilacoom. They got to tour campus with students and attend a video presentation of our galaxy in the science dome there. Elementary students also celebrated St. Patrick's Day with some themed brain teasers, a leprechaun trap STEM project, and also had time to work on their passion projects.
The highlight for elementary this month was our second session, in which we attended a field trip to Pioneer Farm and the Native American Village. Students got to tour both parts of the facility and learn about how children lived in each type of community in the past. We are looking forward to a few more field trips and fun experiences before the year ends!
