It's a great time for spring cleaning! Come to our Recycling Drive and bring items from the list below. Remember to drop off your canned goods as well since funds raised go towards our school. We will be at the front of the school between 9:00 AM until 11:00 on Saturday, April 22.

The students and staff had a special experience today with officers from the Specialized Services Division: Canine Unit, the Solo Bike Detail, and the District 2 Community Policing Team (CPT).

We got to see the cool BMW motorcycles from the Traffic Division. Solo Bike officers help with traffic control and enforcement of traffic laws and regulations. They reminded us to be safe by wearing our seatbelts and to avoid talking or texting on our cellphones while in the car. Fines for violations range from $100 to almost $400!

Corporal Shane and Officer Tim from the CPT "Say Hi" program showed us their equipment and police vehicles.

We have been studying what a habitat is in our classroom, and the different characteristics of them! We recycled old shoe boxes and turned them into habitats of our choosing! Students turned their shoe boxes into habitats made for caterpillars, butterflies, and their own houses to name a few! Students got to choose what they wanted to add in each of their habitats with materials of their choice. Their habitats turned out so wonderful and unique! To extend our learning journey, students also became their own illustrators and authors by creating a book to go along with their habitats they made. Students had to come up with a title for their book as well as a cover illustration! Inside of their books are things such as photos, drawings, and discoveries about their specific habitats chosen! We have really enjoyed this unit of study!

Get excited to dress up and celebrate Read Across Hale'iwa Week! This will take place during our Scholastic Book Fair week as well.

Congratulations to our Grade 5 robotics team! They each received a special hoodie from the VEX IQ State Tournament that they participated in back in January.

Here is a resource from Big Life Journal called “What Do You Need? Animal Poster” to help your child identify different needs they could have throughout the day. Sometimes the best way to help our children work through their feelings is to help them better communicate what they need BEFORE their feelings get too big and a meltdown occurs.

This poster is adorable and would look great hanging in your child’s bedroom, calming corner, or homeschool classroom. Take a look!

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of outdoor play celebrated annually on the third Saturday of May. The day connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks and public lands through thousands of park events that promote discovery and exploration in the great outdoors.
