MST Weekly Update
September 22, 2023
Good afternoon to all of our MST family members.
Nearly 50 juniors and seniors attended a college fair at Southern NH University on Wednesday. Thanks to Ms. Stephen for helping to organize the event, to Mr. Simpson and Gear Up for providing transportation, and to our counselors, Mrs. Tetu and Ms. Wheeler, for accompanying our students to the event. Nest week Gear Up is organizing visits to Plymouth State University, New England College and Colby-Sawyer College. It is great to see so many of our students looking at all possibilities after high school.
This week we started using the new electronic hall pass system in some classes. More information will be provided next week when we roll it out to all high school classes.

Attendance Procedures
If your child is out sick, you should call the school on the morning of the absence to inform us that they will be out. This phone call does not excuse the absence. Your child must bring in a note when they return to school in order for the absences to be excused. If excused absences exceed 10, it is considered chronic absenteeism, you will be required to provide medical documentation explaining the reason for the absences. Failure to provide medical documentation will result in all absences over 15 to be considered unexcused.
Free Covid Test Kits
Beginning on Monday, September 25th anyone interested can order free at home covid test kits using the link below. Covid is on the rise, and this is a great opportunity to get some test kits for your household.
Early Graduation Opportunity
Several 11th grade students have 15 or more credits at the start of the year. For this group of students, the graduation requirement for Manchester is 20 credits which must include certain mandatory credits (4 English, 3 math, 2 science, 2.5 social studies, 1.5 PE/Health, etc). Students who meet all requirements after 3 years may elect to graduate early.
If a student thinks that they may want to graduate early, I must have a letter or email from a parent requesting a possible early graduation. This letter must specifically explain why they want their child to graduate early and include a plan for after graduation (continuing education, perusing a career, entering the military, etc.). This letter should be received at MST by November 15th. It is not a commitment; it is a request to be eligible to graduate early. If plans change and the decision is made to stay at MST for a 4th year, that is not a problem.
Union Leader Reader's Choice Gold Winner
Over the summer, MST was recognized as the Gold Award winner for Vocational Schools as chosen by readers of the New Hampshire Union Leader. The Readers' Choice Awards are given out annually in a variety of categories including education. A very special thanks to all of our staff who do such a great job welcoming students from Manchester and surrounding towns into our outstanding school.
