Parents and Guardians, Friday will be early release for all students. We will begin dismissing car riders at 1:05, followed by bus riders at 1:10.

Parents, cellphones/smartwatches have become a huge issue at school, and now that we are approaching the state Georgia Milestones testing season, it will be vital that your child adheres to all school rules and state policy regarding cellphones/smartwatches and any other types of electronic devices. We are asking you to help us with this issue. Below are somethings that we are suggesting now as a preventive measure to ensure that your child have a smooth testing experience.

1. Have your child to keep their cellphone at home. (Once they get home, they can contact you to let you know that they have made it home).
2. Once students arrive at school, we asked that all students give their cellphone to their homeroom teacher to secure, and the phone will be returned at the end of the day. (Please note that if the phone is taken during the school day, parents listed in Infinite Campus will have to come to the school to get the phone).
3. Failure to turn cellphone/smartwatch in to the teacher during state Georgia Milestones testing, will result in having not only your child's test scores invalidated, but the entire class scores. (More information to come from the school district testing director regarding this).
4. All students are required to take the Georgia Milestones.

Parents, it most important that during the Georgia Milestones assessment, that your child come to school each day of the assessment. We need 100% of our students here during this time as with every day of school. Your child attendance will have a huge impact on their performance, so please have them here. Start now readjusting any type of appointments until after this assessment.

Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance. This relationship between attendance and achievement may appear early in a child's school career. ... Research shows that attendance is an important factor in student achievement. Also, make sure that your child is on time every day as well. The school day starts at 8:45.

Parents, please review the student code of conduct with your child. This information can be found in your child's student handbook. It is very important that all students adhere to the student code of conduct at all times. Failure to abide by the student code of conduct could have severe consequences. For more information regarding the student code of conduct, please contact the school at 770-784-2934. Thank you for your continued support!

NCSS, in collaboration with the Atlanta Community Food Bank (ACFB), will begin distributing 250 boxes of fresh fruits and produce to combat food insecurity. Distribution times for each location is 2:15 PM until 4:30 PM, or until all items are gone. Food distribution will be on a first come first serve basis. Feel free to share this information. The sites and distribution days are as follows:

• Live Oak Elementary - 1st Wednesday of each month
• Flint Hill Elementary - 2nd Wednesday of each month
• Rocky Plains Elementary - 3rd Wednesday of each month
• South Salem Elementary - 4th Thursday of each month

Communication is important to ensure that our records are updated and that the teachers are aware of your student's attendance.

Parents, please check to see if your child has all of their school-issued devices that you signed for at the beginning of school. Some students have missing devices and chargers. Students who have damaged Chromebooks, Missing protective Case, Missing Chromebooks, or Missing Charger will have to pay for loss or damaged equipment. (PLEASE KNOW THAT THESE FEES FOLLOW STUDENTS TO HIGH SCHOOL AND WILL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THEIR GRADUATION, ETC.). All school-issued equipment will have to be returned before the end of the 2021-2022 school year. Please contact the school if you have any questions. Please review the device agreement that was signed at the beginning of this school year.

Parent, our students hear the message below every day during the morning announcements:

"STUDENTS, PLEASE BE REMINDED TO FOLLOW ALL SCHOOL RULES AND ALSO KNOW THAT WE ARE A NO-PLACE-FOR-HATE SCHOOL AND THAT NO FORM OF BULLYING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED, THEREFORE, KEEP YOUR HANDS AND YOUR COMMENTS TO YOURSELF".

Please speak with your child regarding Bullying, whether it's at school, on the bus, or on social media.

Please note: You and your child could face severe consequences if evidence points towards any type of Bullying. Therefore, please tell them to leave others alone.

Also, speak to your child about making THREATENING statements or comments. THEY WILL FACE SEVERE CONSEQUENCES. IF THEY HAVE AN ISSUE, THEY NEED TO SEEK OUT AN ADULT FOR ASSISTANCE.
