Wolf Call Weekly
10/11/21-10/15/21
Welcome to this week!
The mission of West Hills High School is to graduate critical thinkers and problem-solvers who contribute positively to society as productive, responsible citizens.
Homecoming Dance and Guest Pass Info
We are looking forward to our Homecoming Football game (and Mayor's Cup) on Friday, Oct. 22 and our Homecoming dance on Saturday, Oct. 23!!
ASB is happy to announce our Candy Land theme!! Make sure to dress up the week of Oct. 18th and we hope to see you all at the dance on Oct. 23rd from 7-10 pm.
Here is information on the dance and if you would like to bring a Guest. If your guest is a West Hills student, you do NOT need to complete the Guest Pass form.
Remember all fines need to be paid prior to buying and/or attending the dance a ticket. Also, you can not be on the Loss of Privilege (LOP) list at the time of the game or dance. Students on the LOP list received an e-mail to them and their parent or guardian. Check your student and parent portal this week to see if you got the email. If you have any invoices, automated email reminders are being sent out weekly on Mondays. These emails include information about how to clear specific types of invoices. You may also view updated school account information anytime by logging into Destiny: bit.ly/whhs-destiny
Not sure where to get help? See the Assistant Principal's office to get pointed in the right direction.
Tickets continue to be on sale at the Finance office. Current ticket prices are $20 with an ASB sticker and $25 dollars without. On Tuesday, October 19th, the ticket prices will ALL increase to $35. Guests will pay the "NO ASB sticker" pricing. You can buy your tickets before your first class of the day, at student break, lunch and after your last class of the day (Finance is closed Period 6 for staff lunch).
Thank you.
Attention Seniors!
Seniors, you will have the opportunity to vote up to 10 students for the Homecoming nominees!! The top 20 students with the most votes will be placed on another ballot to run for Top 10, who will eventually become our Homecoming Court.
Top 20 Poll is open from: 10/8/21 @ 4:00pm - 10/11/21 @ 11:59pm.
Voting takes place in the 5 Star App. Need help registering? See this video from Mr. Riego.
Top 10 voting will take place on October 13th @ 7:15am and end on October 15th @ 3:30pm.
Student ID cards
Are you coming to our next home football game vs. Santana on October 22nd and/or the Homecoming Dance on October 23rd? If you are, YOU MUST have a CURRENT WHHS student ID to enter the stadium and dance.
If you lost your ID or do not have one, go to the Finance Office to get a replacement. There will be no exceptions at the gate if you do not have a valid school ID.
Loss of Privilege Policy
Loss of Privilege (LOP) List: This exists to support the idea that our primary function is “Academics First” and that student behaviors and choices need to prioritize attendance and following school rules. Students may earn their way off of the LOP list through attendance at detention and / or Saturday school after talking with their Assistant Principal. They can also lose a privilege that was granted (i.e. serving Saturday School to be eligible to purchase a Homecoming Dance Ticket, but then repeat actions (or new actions) that put them back on LOP so that attending Homecoming Dance is no longer available to them and a dance ticket refund is issued).
See our Loss of Privilege Policy HERE.
Attention Class of 2025!
There is Value in Attending Every Class Period on Time Each Day
Please see this letter from our Principal, Mrs. Ballarin, regarding actions planned for supporting our teachers in classrooms and the value of attending every class period on time each day. While the Tik Tok Challenge has continued to close one of our student restrooms on campus (causing disruption and long lines), we have asked teachers to allow students to come to class FIRST to get a pass and then go to the restroom so the student is not marked tardy.
We opened our Pack Center Restroom this past Monday and had to close it again within 3 hours due to food and other matter smeared all over the walls, the soap dispensers torn from the walls (which had just been reordered and reinstalled) and damage to the sinks and toilets. With continuing supply chain shortages and staffing shortages, we are unable to re-open these restrooms until we get the needed supplies and supervision to do so. At this time, we are not certain when that might occur although items have been ordered.
We appreciate the vast majority of our students who are doing the right thing! We know it is a small group of individuals causing the disruption and are pursuing them individually to truly make our campus all about teaching and learning in all ways.
Thank you for your time and patience. This has been a difficult year so far and we are unrelenting in our dedication to being the best we can be for our students, families, faculty and staff.
Go Wolf Pack!

Anonymous Tip Line
Last week, we sent an email regarding the Tik Tok challenge encouraging students to steal and / or do damage to school property, specifically our restrooms and encouraged students that if they ¨See something, Say Something¨. We want to let students and parents know that in the google toolbar in student Chromebooks, they will see this icon (pictured to the left), (P3) which is an anonymous tip line.
If students click on this icon in their toolbar, it takes them to a new window where they can report problems on campus with theft, vandalism, or other possible criminal acts, or simply let us know there is a concern about a person in our school community or their world. This tip line then alerts both law enforcement and educational staff so we can pursue this information and investigate. It is anonymous and can be done from the privacy of the student's Chromebook.
Thank you for helping us keep our campus safe, clean and operational. We are "ALL IN" together!
