CALVIN PARK UPDATE
June 29, 2020
We are so proud of our students, staff, and families for their perseverance and ongoing commitment to emergency remote learning during the school closure period. We know that it was a challenging time and that we all worked to do our best to support our children. During this time, we found out ways to connect and learn in exciting new ways and we are committed to continuing this journey together. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our families for your continued support and patience during this very challenging year. We feel very fortunate to work with your children and it has been difficult to not be together in person for so long. We were very excited to see our students and families when you came to pick up student belongings! These last few months have really proven to all of us how important it is for families and schools to work together in order to ensure the well-being and achievement of our children.
The end of the school year always brings mixed emotions as we say farewell to some staff and welcome our new staff. We would like to extend our sincere thanks and best wishes to staff who are leaving us to begin new adventures at new schools: Ms. Allen, Ms. Crook, Ms. Murphy, and Mr. Millar.
As well, we extend special congratulations to Mr. Down, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to the students in the Limestone District School Board. His contributions to our school and board as a teacher, coach, and friend, have left a lasting impact. We wish Mr. Down much health and happiness as he begins this new phase of his life.
We would like to extend a warm welcome to the new staff who will be joining us in September: Mr. Houston and Ms. Sperry. We also welcome Ms. Ridout back from her leave.
Finally, we would like to recognize our School Council for their contributions during the 2019-20 school year. Even though our meetings were limited this year, we really appreciate the commitment of the School Council Co-Chairs and members for volunteering their time to make our school even better!
At this point in time, we don't yet know what September will look like, however, last week, the Ministry of Education released information on possible scenarios for the coming school year. Please follow the links below to Director Rantz's message and for the Ministry update for more information. Our Board is currently working on different plans for the fall as we wait for the final recommendations of Public Health and the Ministry of Education in early August. We will communicate those plans with our families in detail once they are finalized.
As we head into the summer months, we wish you continued good health and time to relax, recharge and make precious memories with your friends and families.
Thank you. Take care of each other and stay well,
The Calvin Park Staff

INFORMATION ABOUT THE SAFE RE-OPENING OF SCHOOLS
Return to School Survey for Families
Our Board is seeking feedback about the return to school in September. The Ministry of Education has released three potential scenarios for the reopening of public schools in the fall for the 2020-2021 school year.
While KFL&A Public Health and the Ministry of Education are likely to direct much of the structure of learning and school operations when schools re-open, the Limestone District School Board would like your feedback when considering return-to-school planning.
We ask that you take a few minutes to answer these questions to help us with our planning for September. The anonymous survey will take about 10 minutes to complete. Please complete one survey per family. The survey will be open until Tuesday, June 30, 2020.
