Mrs. Michels Weekly Updates
Let's make it a great week!
Hello Hamilton Families,
November 27th -December 1st
I hope everyone was able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and spent quality time with the people most important to you!
Now that the holiday season is upon us we need to keep in mind that the holidays don't bring joy to everyone. Stress of the cost of the holidays, missing loved ones, and just the change in routines can throw people off. When adults are stressed, children get stressed. As you know when children are stressed, behavior problem escalate. Do your best to manage your stress, keep children on their normal routine and seek help when needed. We teach the students calming strategies as well as ways to be proactive when working towards goals or task completion at school. Talk to your child about how they use these strategies at school and how they can use them at home. Working together we can make sure that we all enjoy the holidays with less stress!
One again we will host the Santa Shop at Hamilton! The shop will run from 12/11-12/15. Students will shop with their class. Keeping with the spirit of giving, we do not allow students to purchase gifts for themselves at this shop. This shop is for students to experience the joy of giving. Items range in price from $1-$15. Students will receive an envelope to help plan who they need to buy for and approximately how much they have to spend on each person on their list. We will have volunteers to help count money and keep students in their budget, the gift selection is all up to the student. We do not allow parents to come and shop with their students (it ruins the surprise). I will need a number of volunteers, the sign up sheet will come home this week and you will receive a Dojo confirmation of your volunteer time by 12/6.
Registration is now open for the Winter 2024 Boys Basketball and Cheerleading league. Registration deadline is December 8, 2023. Games will be on Saturdays and will begin on January 27, 2024.

Please contact our Family Resource Center at: 734-419-2709 or FRC@wwcsd.net. Our FRC also has a Digital Request for Services Form, which can be used to request assistance by filling out a simple form. Attendance
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
