Crescent Lake Connection
Newsletter of Crescent Lake School: Issue 2 - Sept. 25, 2023
Celebrating and Engaging In Our CLS Community
We are winding down what has been a wonderful first month of school at Crescent Lake. Students have been working at learning and practicing classroom routines and expectations while still completing academic activities and beginning of the year assessments. Students have taken the Reading and Math ExactPath tests in the last two weeks of school. This week, all students are taking the Language Arts portion of ExactPath diagnostic tests which will provide an additional benchmark point to monito student progress throughout the school year. We will be celebrating our theme of community on Friday of this week and hearing from students as they present what they have learned about working together in our school community. Many clubs and activities are just starting up - please read through this newsletter to hear about how your child can be participating. By the end of this week, we will be sending home information about Winter Sports - four weeks of winter activities that all CLS students will participate in during the month of January. It is an inviting, exciting and engaging start to the school year!

JumpRope is the grading program that our teachers use to track and record student progress towards our grade level curriculum standards. Attached to the link below is a brief overview of what JumpRope is and how it works for the parent/guardian viewpoint. All parents/guardians should have received a welcome email to log in the JumpRope system. Our Curriculum Director, Dr. Katey Hills, is in the process of creating a series of short videos on various features of JumpRope and competency-based grading that will be posted and shared in the coming weeks. If you have not received the welcome email and login information, please reach out to our Dr. Hills at khills@sau49.org
At the end of each trimester of school, we will be presenting students who have earned a 3.0 or higher in all Work Habits in the summary section of their report card the Otter Pride Award. Families can track their child's progress towards earning the Otter Pride Award by logging into JumpRope.

Note from the Nurse's Office
If you haven't filled out the emergency information form online, we have sent one home with your child. Please fill it out and have them bring it back to the main office or the nurse's office. Thank you!
Stay healthy - encourage your child to get a full night's rest by taking away electronics and setting a regular sleep schedule. Washing hands regularly and drinking water will help everyone stay healthy and stay in school.
We will be holding a Flu Clinic in October at school - more information will be coming home soon! If you need to reach the nurse's office, you may call the main office of school or use the email clsnurse@sau49.org
Click the button above for the Free & Reduced application and other meal information for the year. An online application will be available soon!
