Dr. Boryszewski Named Superintendent of Distinction for West Cook Region
SD81 is proud to announce that this week our superintendent, Dr. Kimberly Boryszewski, has been named the 2024 Superintendent of Distinction for West Cook. Dr. Boryszewski began her career in District 81 in 1989 as a kindergarten teacher. She then served as the principal of John F. Kennedy Elementary School and has been the District's superintendent for the past thirteen years.
Dr. Boryszewski's expertise in curriculum and instruction is the driving force behind the district-wide concentration on using the NWEA MAP Growth assessment to differentiate instruction to meet students where they are academically. NWEA continues to feature SD81 for the District's instructional strategies and "high growth for all students."
The Illinois Association of School Administrators (IASA) West Cook Region recognized Dr. Boryszewski not only for her leadership in student achievement, but also for her work in helping the SD81 Board of Education realize their goal of providing 21st-century learning across the entire district, with the Kennedy School addition project and new Washington School. Making space in the new Washington School for the Schiller Park Historical Commission is another example of Dr. Boryszewski's innovative leadership recognized by her West Cook colleagues. The Historical Commission's inviting new space welcomes all community members and brings generations together to learn from one another.
SD81 Board of Education president, Tina Ewanio, expressed the Board's gratitude at the February 21st, 2024 Board of Education meeting, referring to District 81 as a hidden gem now receiving national recognition for its 21st-century schools and student achievement: "All of this work would not be possible without the support and guidance of our day-to-day leader, Dr. Kimberly Boryszewski."
"It is humbling to receive recognition for doing a job I absolutely love. My colleagues in the West Cook region are outstanding student advocates, and it is my honor to learn from and work alongside them," Dr. Boryszewski shared. "I am blessed to lead a learning community filled with educators, administrators, and board members who genuinely work together in the best interest of students."
Dr. Boryszewski is the proud mother of three children, and has an extended family with strong ties to the community of Schiller Park, having grown up in Schiller Park herself.
