Trivium Academy Weekly Newsletter-Week of Nov. 11th
Laura Rios-6th Grade Humanities/Quest Humanities
My background is in ESL and higher education, and this is my 15th year as a teacher, though it is my first at Trivium. I've worked in the US with international students from many different countries. I previously taught in China, Korea, Turkey, and Japan. Needless to say, I think that different cultures are incredibly interesting, and I love both learning and teaching about them. Outside of school, I am a member of a book club and a board game group, a volunteer at the annual Lebanese Food Festival in Lewisville, the eccentric aunt to 7 nieces and nephews, and a godmother to four. I’m an avid reader (92 books so far this year!) with a particular weakness for Pride and Prejudice variations. I also enjoy a good cup of coffee, the great outdoors, a wide variety of artsy and creative hobbies, and the antics of my dog, Henry.

Teaching History: This is my 12th year in education. I hold six different teaching certifications (Music, Theatre, Special Education, ESL, and Generalist 4-8) and have taught elementary, middle and high school (some core subjects, too!) throughout my teaching career. I am excited to be part of the Trivium Academy community and look forward to getting to know all the staff and families.
Family: While I am a Fort Worth native, I live in Lewisville with my Yorkie, Bear.
Interests/Hobbies Outside of School: I love to travel and perform at various community theaters in the metroplex. I also love reading, writing, baking and watching old movies.

Escape with Force, Motion and Energy!
Students in Mrs. Martin's 4th grade science got to apply their knowledge of force and energy to an exciting escape room activity. Dim the lights, cue the suspenseful music, and begin the learning fun! Students had to answer a series of questions about force, motion, and energy correctly in order to transform their answers into a secret code using various keys. The codes were then used to "unlock" a series of digital locks. Once all questions were answered and decoded correctly, students escaped!
