Hound Dog Huddle
February 2, 2024
Principal's Message:
Happy Friday Hilton Families!
For a short week, it sure was a packed week! We had our January huddle on Tuesday, where students focused on Optimism and “The Power of Yet”! We also had our lockdown drill on Tuesday, and staff and students did a wonderful job practicing.

Kindness Week:
Every year Brighton Area Schools celebrates Kindness Week. This year it will be February 20th - 23rd. Hilton will have various activities planned here at school throughout the week. Additionally, there is always a shirt that is a fundraiser that benefits a different local organization. As was done last year, the give back will go to each school's PTO to do something fun and enriching for our Hilton students.
Shirts can be purchased through this link:
https://www.ivoryvines.com/collections/kindness-2022
Orders will be fulfilled within a few days and can be shipped directly to your home or picked up at Ivory Vines in downtown Brighton.
Career Week:
Career Week is rapidly approaching! This year Career Week for the elementary buildings is February 26- March 1st. We are looking for speakers who are in the fields designated for each grade to volunteer to speak to our students. Please see the sign up genius below for more information. You do not need to have a child in that grade level to volunteer to speak. Each presentation will be roughly 10 minutes with a few minutes for questions from students. If you sign up to volunteer and have any questions, please reach out to Erin Belanger at belangere@brightonk12.com.
The focus professions for each grade are as follows:
JK/K Law, Public Safety, Corrections, Safety, Fire, EMS
1st Grade Health Science
2nd Grade Architecture and Construction
3rd Grade Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
4th Grade Arts, A/V Technology and Communications
I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you all for your continued support and partnership, and Go Dogs!
Warmly,
Erin Belanger
Principal

We are in need of substitute teachers! You have to apply through Edustaff and can use the link below to access their website. LESA Monthly Mental Health Series
LESA (Livingston Educational Service Agency) has put together a monthly series of Mental Health and Wellness topics that will be part of a mental health series in our county. The mental health series is a series of topical webinars relevant to parents and families of the Brighton School District. Some of the topics include "Your Child's Anxiety", "School Avoidance", and "Building Your Child's Confidence.". One thing to know about the webinars is that families can join and participate but be completely anonymous. Please see the flier above for more information.

The McKinney Vento Act
The Brighton Area Schools is part of a consortium to serve students in temporary living situations that
provides financial support for educational needs, referral for housing, clothing and other needs, general
support and technical assistance. To ensure compliance with federal law, all school staff must help
identify student living in the following situations: emergency shelters/transitional housing,
motels/hotels, car, parks or public spaces, shared housing due to a loss of housing or economic
hardship, or living temporarily with non-parent or guardian.
The district’s homeless liaison is Starr Acromite and each building has trained staff members to assist in the endeavor. Our consortium contact at the Livingston Educational Service Agency is Candice Olrich. Please contact your building principal or Starr Acromite at 810-299-4040 for information/assistance.
