Greetings!
Just a quick note to wish everyone a safe start to the summer season! We are all rounding the corner finishing up those spring tasks!
Looking to get your Alabama State Certification for working in the Green Industry? A few exam review class opportunities are posted above this note.
Do you need pesticide points? Be sure to check out the details for the June 7, 2023 event offered by Alabama Extension's David Lawrence at the Clanton Recreation Center in Clanton. It will be from 9 AM - 2 PM with lunch, but be sure to register with the Chilton County Extension Office at 205-280-6268.
In April, we continued putting the Green Industry in front of young folks interested in career opportunities! Many thanks to Jennifer Crutchfield for the invite to attend their 2023 Career Tech Education Summit hosting 1,000 high school students interested in hands-on job fields! We also attended the 2023 NC3 Signing Day at Wallace State in Hanceville where students signed letters of intent for applied programs. Many thanks to Jason Bynum, program chair of the Wallace State Agribusiness & Horticulture program, for inviting Alabama Extension and AGITC to support these students signing their letters! We also watched four of their students receive a national scholarship named The Skilled Trades - 3M Transformational Scholarship. Congratulations to all!
Reach out to me at the AGITC if you have questions or need help on figuring out the state certification process. Also, for those of you who have been to class, keep me in the loop on your progress! I enjoy hearing those updates on your progress and have heard some good reports lately!
Take care,
John
