Thanks to the many community readers who took the time to visit Lemira on "Read Across America Day" to read to our classes. We had over twenty guest readers to allow each class to have their special class reader! We thank you for your continuous support of Lemira.
Special thanks to Eaton Corporation, South Carolina State University, Giant Resource Recovery, and Sumter County Museum for sending additional employees to assist us in our reading initiative.

1. March 10th: District Mental Health Wellness Day
- Students will dismiss at 11am.
- If there is a change in the mode of transportation, please inform the front office in writing.

2. PreK and Kindergarten New Student Registration:
- The window opened Monday, Feb.20th.
- Lemira will have a special registration night March 9th (3:30pm - 6:00pm)
- If you are not able to make the registration night, you may register Monday - Friday (9am - 3pm)

3. Camp Leopold Trip:
5th Grade:
- Students will depart for trip Wednesday, March 8th - Friday, March 10th
4th Grade
- Permission slips are due by Tues, March 7th.
- There will be a 4th grade parent meeting March 16th @ 6pm.
- Students will depart for trip Wednesday, March 22nd - Friday, March 24th.
4. Title One Literacy Gullah Night ( March 14th @ 6pm)
- We will have a special guest, nationally known Aunt Pealie Sue, who will do a storyteller presentation for our parents and students!
- Our Percussion Ensemble and Chorus will perform as an opening act. (Gullah Presentation)
- SC Report Card Survey Lab: 5:00 - 5:45pm and 7:00 - 7:30pm
5. Community Clean-Up Day
- Community Clean Up day is March 25th (Saturday).
- Our student council, CROWNED girls group, steppers, boys mentoring group, and gardening club members will participate.
- We would love for our parents to join us, as well.
- We will clean the school grounds and surrounding areas from 9am - 11am.
6. STEM Bus Visit:
- 3rd Graders will have the opportunity to engage in STEM activities with reps from the Governor's School of Arts.
- Monday, March 13th (During School Hours)
7. Science Fair Projects:- Teachers will be sending home information relating to students' upcoming science fair projects.
- The due date will be set by the teacher.
- Please reference teachers' schoology page and homework folders for additional class information.
8. EXACT Path: Students are encouraged to log into EXACT Path daily while at home. They have a dedicated time during the school day to work on their learning paths. However, we do encourage students to continue practicing their "Leveled" skills in their "Reading and Math" learning pathways. Students are recognized bi-weekly for their mastery progress and usage minutes.
