It's So Good to be a Viking!
Viking Family,
With each week that passes, I grow to love this school and your students more and more! The memories I’m making have been remarkable - watching our teachers and amazing AP walk the Viking Runway at today’s pep rally in the name of school spirit and bringing our students joy is definitely among them! Meeting with the PALS and witnessing their leadership and commitment to LVHS is a highlight each week, as is watching our student-athletes compete.
As we continue our journey as Vikings, I want to reflect on the importance of making memories that will last a lifetime. High school is a unique chapter in our lives, filled with challenges, growth, and opportunities to create lasting connections. It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day routine, but I encourage each of our students to pause and appreciate the special moments they’ll share with their Viking Family. The friendships built, the lessons learned, and the challenges they overcome will shape who they are long after graduation.
I also want to encourage you all as parents to stay involved. The memory of your student knowing you were steadfast in your support will stay with them always. Whether you’re cheering at a game, helping with homework, or making them stand still for one more picture, you are an essential part of their high school journey. Let’s work together to ensure this is a time they will look back on with pride and joy. We’re all in this together!
As an English teacher, I’m always looking for words that express my thoughts better than I, so I leave you with these by Trace Adkins. For our students, this is my wish:
You're gonna miss this
You're gonna want this back
You're gonna wish these days hadn't gone by so fast
These are some good times
So take a good look around
You may not know it now
But you're gonna miss this
Together, let’s create moments worth remembering.
AeTT,
Janda Castillo

The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) is more than good practice for the SAT, and the scores are more than just a number. With your results your student can:
- Track progress from PSAT 8/9 through SAT.
- Get insights into areas they need to work on to prepare for the SAT.
- Become eligible for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
- Qualify for other scholarship money.
Learn more about the PSAT/NMSQT here.
All LVHS students in grades 9-11 will take the PSAT on October 23. You don't need to do anything to sign your student up. We have loaded BlueBook on all school issued Ipads and purchased digital tests for all students.
You can help by reminding your student get a good night's rest and a healthy breakfast before the test, making sure Ipads are charged and ready to go, and encouraging them to take the practice test between now and test day. Please reach out to Ms. Kinslow with any PSAT related questions.
Senior Section!
Senior Summit Day
While the rest of the school is taking the PSAT, Senior will be taking part in a special morning designed just for the Class of 2025. We will have guest speakers talking through important Senior only stuff including caps and gowns and college applications. LV Viking Booster Club Corner
Volunteers Needed for Concessions at Middle & High School Athletic Events!
The LV Viking Booster Club relies on the help of volunteers to operate our concession stands at all Lago Vista Middle School and High School athletic events, including the highly anticipated Varsity football games. This Friday’s Homecoming Game is especially crucial, as Varsity football games serve as the lifeblood of our booster club.
Concessions are the LVVBC’s biggest fundraiser and play a huge role in our ability to support Viking athletics. Through these efforts, we are able to fund scholarships and provide thousands of dollars in equipment to our middle and high school athletic programs. The LV Viking Booster Club Board works tirelessly to organize events, run fundraisers, and support our athletes. But we cannot do it alone — we need the entire Viking community to step up and help us succeed.
How can you help? We ask that everyone volunteer their time and effort to support our student-athletes. As a reminder, parents who are active booster club members are required to have paid their membership dues and volunteered for a minimum of two shifts per sport their child participates in, if your student-athlete, manager, or student trainer intends on applying for a LV Viking Booster Club Scholarship their senior year.
Where to sign up:
- LV Viking Booster Club Website and Facebook Page
- Team Apps
- LVHS Newsletter

They are the AeTT (Title) Sponsor for the LED Digital Scoreboard for this Friday's Homecoming Game and for Senior Night on November 1. Their commitment to quality service goes beyond just homes—they're also dedicated to supporting local schools and athletics. We’re proud to have them as a sponsor, helping us make every game day a success! Show them some love by checking out their services or giving them a call for your next plumbing or AC need.
