Carver Academy’s Fall Cluster Celebration
For the first time in three years, Carver Academy students were able to show all they’ve learned by performing at the school’s Fall Cluster Celebration. This celebration highlights the school’s 30+ enrichment clusters. Students completed a live science experiment (Be Bill Nye group), a sign language demonstration (Sign Me Up!), and even a live rock and roll mini-concert (Carver Academy of Rock). Those groups that didn’t perform had displays of their work in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room. From science to math to language to the arts, students at Carver are learning and having fun.
Revised Schools of Choice
On October 4, 2022, the ABCUSD Board of Education approved the revision of Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5116.1 - Intradistrict Open Enrollment, which also revised the Schools of Choice process. The Schools of Choice application process will now begin on January 1 and end on January 31, giving families earlier notification of the school their child will attend if they go through the Schools of Choice lottery. The revision also refined the ranking used in the lottery, moving those who reside outside the District, including employees, out of the lottery. Out-of-district students are welcome to enroll through the interdistrict permit process after Schools of Choice is over. Our Child Welfare and Attendance Department will share more information soon and hold parent information sessions.
Veterans Day
Tomorrow is the 11th day of the 11th month when we celebrate those who have served our country in the armed services. Veterans Day, celebrated on what is recognized to be the day when World War I ended, was made a federal holiday in 1938. Maybe you’ll attend a local Veterans Day celebration or connect with a loved one who has served. However you spend your day, we hope you’ll keep those who have served and are currently serving in our armed forces in your thoughts.
National School Psychology Week
This week is National School Psychology Week! This year’s theme is “Together We Shine,” highlighting the hope our psychologists give to students after challenging years. Our psychologists connect with students, helping them develop and grow. To our team of psychologists - thank you for your collective efforts and contributions.
