Hello Safford Husky Families,
We are so proud and excited to announce that our school is now rated a "B"! This is 100% because of the dedication of our students, families and staff. Growing our school has been the accomplishment of a lifetime - and we want to thank each of you. Everyday you have your student at school on-time, ready to learn and focused on academics, we grow.
Attendance is our focus this quarter. We need to have 95% attendance each day. If your student is not in their seat on time, they miss too much instruction. The Arizona Department of Education recommends that students who miss more than 10% of the year (which is 18 days missed) should be looked at for retention. Once a student misses 60 days, they should be unenrolled from the campus. We cannot teach students who are not here.
Tardies add up quickly - if you miss the first 10 minutes of class every day, that is a full hour of school. If you do that for a month, you miss an entire day of education. Again, we cannot teach a student who is not here.
The beginning of the day in Middle School is critically important - this is when we do Homeroom and all the Tier 2 iReady instruction. Students must be here on time and in class.
Again, celebrate the win - but remember, now we have lots of work to do - your students deserve the best education possible.
Sincerely,
Dr. Katherine Kuhn

Support School Activities
Did you know Arizona allows you to direct your state income tax to your students' school? The Arizona Tax Credit provides funds for extracurricular programs, enhancing your child's experiences at Safford. Individuals can contribute up to $400 each to support the students at Safford. Encourage friends and family to support your school as well!
