Holy Family Newsletter
October 19, 2023
Dear HFRCS Families,
We are half-way through the first trimester of the school year! We are moving full steam ahead and accomplishing so much. Our students are working hard and having fun at the same time.
Holy Family is praying the Rosary on Tuesday, 10/30/23, at 9:30am in St. Joe’s Church. We will be celebrating the Joyful Mysteries and Father Otto will be praying with us. The November Mass is on Thursday, 11/9/23, and Father Otto will be the celebrant with 6th grade in charge. We will be recognizing students who exhibit empathy and compassion, just as St. Teresa of Kolkata taught us. As always, all are welcome to attend and celebrate our faith together!
We will be issuing Progress Reports for all of our students and they will be sent home in the Friday Folder on 10/20/23. Please make sure you keep track of your children’s progress as we are halfway through the first trimester already.
We did not have a dress down for September birthdays so we will combine them with our October birthdays this month. Therefore, on Wednesday 10/25/23 we will have a dress down for all September and October birthdays.
Do not forget about our annual Trunk or Treat on Friday, 10/27/23. HSA does an amazing job of planning this event and it is a lot of fun for not only our students, but our families as well. We hope to see everyone there that night!
Lastly, we have Halloween on 10/31/23. There is a PreK Halloween Parade during the school day and Halloween Classroom Parties in the afternoon for our students. Remember there is no school on November 1st and it is a Holy Day of Obligation.
Formal Uniforms return 11/2/23. Please remember that sneakers will only be worn on gym days beginning in November. All students must wear the dress shoes (and socks) listed in the handbook. Also, no shorts are allowed either, including Dress Down Days. The handbook is always available on our website.
As always, thank you for your support and dedication to Holy Family and catholic education. Our school would not be what it is without you, our amazing families.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you,
Mr. Elia
Personnel Updates
We are so excited to announce that we have hired Brady Hochman as our new PE/Gym Teacher. He will begin next Monday, 10/23/23. Mr. Hochman has experience teaching PE/Gym in elementary schools in New Jersey. He cannot wait to start his career here at Holy Family! We also have to announce that Mr. Burns is no longer our Technology Teacher but we have substitute teachers filling in until we find the right candidate.
Pennhurst Asylum Raffle
One of our amazing families donated VIP Passes for the Pennhurst Asylum Haunted Attraction. Each pass has a value of $99 for a total of $400. We also have a 5lb chocolate bar to go with the passes. Please use the link to buy chances for this awesome opportunity for a fun night out. Chances are $2 each, 3 for $5, or 10 for $10. We will draw the winner Monday, 10/23/23.
Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Tax Program
We were so lucky to have Kevin Kelly from the Foundation for Catholic Education present at our Back to School night about the EITC Program. This is an opportunity for individuals like you to send PA State Income Tax money directly to our school instead of Harrisburg. If you have the completed commitment form, please send it directly to Kevin Kelly (kkelly@foundationfce.org). The form is also attached to the dojo post.
Dress Code Policy
Please remember that students must be in their correct uniform. Grades K-4 will receive numbers and 5-8 will receive demerits if they violate the dress code policy.
COVID Policy Reminder
At Holy Family, our number one priority will always be the safety of our students, staff, and families. We have seen an increase number of positive cases among students the last three days. Nothing to panic about, but we must make sure we are following proper protocols and taking necessary precautions. If we do not work together, we may be facing a mask mandate and/or possible virtual days if the numbers continue to rise.
As a reminder, our COVID Policy is below. So, please make sure you monitor for symptoms.
Everyone will follow the same procedures regardless of their vaccination status.
If you are exposed to someone who is positive with COVID-19
- There is no quarantine period, but masks will be strongly recommended.
If you live with a person(s) who has tested positive for COVID-19
- There is no quarantine period, but masks will be required. The length of time will be confirmed by Nurse Victoria.
If you test positive for COVID-19
- You must contact Nurse Victoria immediately. You will isolate for at least 5 days and be able to return after that time period if you are free of fever and your overall symptoms have improved. Nurse Victoria will confirm your return date and when you will be able to return to being mask optional.
Please do not hesitate to contact myself or Nurse Victoria if you have any questions or concerns.
