Please plan to join us today for Back to School Night. We set aside this time because it is an important opportunity for you to meet your child's teacher and learn about what to expect throughout the year, including curriculum, special events, and ways that you can volunteer in the classroom. Unfortunately, the time set aside for teacher presentations does not allow for discussions about individual students, but you can always email the teacher to set up a separate time to meet.
The Alta Vista Home and School Club will also be holding a meeting in the cafeteria/multi-purpose room to present information about the programs they (you) support, this year's projected budget, and the many ways you can be involved at Alta Vista.
You will find a map below to help you find your way to your child's classroom, as well as the Home and School Club meeting. We look forward to seeing you tonight.

PAWS AND PRIDE ASSEMBLY
Every Wednesday, Alta Vista comes together for a virtual PAWS and Pride Assembly after lunch. During our time together, we celebrate students who are exemplifying our PAWS characteristics. We also recognize things that are happening around campus, such as today's first fire drill that went extremely well. It is also an opportunity for reminders to help us have a peaceful and kind campus. We always end with a riddle. We like to include our PAWS winners in the Vista Views newsletter. You'll see their names and classroom numbers below so that you can celebrate friends or family who are being recognized.

INFORMATION FROM UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT
REMINDER - Student Nutrition
Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) is a federal initiative designed to provide food assistance to students who have been impacted by the pandemic and are missing out on meals that would have been provided at school. This program aims to replace those meals with a monetary benefit that can be used to purchase food.
P-EBT benefits are being distributed to all students who attended Union School District last year. The California Department of Education has determined eligibility for P-EBT cards based on the District's status, rather than the individual status of each student. Beginning this month, P-EBT cards containing a benefit amount of $120 have been mailed to student's home mailing address. These cards function like debit cards and can be used at locations where CalFresh Food benefits are accepted.
Families who determine the P-EBT benefits are not necessary can drop off their cards at a collection box which will be made available in the front office area at each school. The District is working with the California Department of Education on redistributing returned P-EBT cards to students who are in need of these benefits.
