Message From The Principal

Hello Eagle families,

Today is the last official day of Credit #2. Teachers are willing to work with students to make up missing assignments and in many cases to retake assessments if necessary.

We have begun calling students and families who have had less than desirable attendance this semester. Our intent is to support students to be successful. Please let us know how we can help.

Lastly, next week our coaches will introduce our students to an exciting program called Find Your Grind. The program helps students identify their interests, passion and purpose. We are excited to get access to the program.

UPDATE ON SELF ASSESSMENTS AND MASKS

REMINDER: Staff and students will NO longer be receiving texts and/or emails from Qualtrics for Covid-19 self assessments. Staff and students are now expected to self -assess prior to arriving on campus. The QR Codes that are posted now are only for substitute staff and visitors.
Masks still need to be worn inside until Monday March 14th!!!!

Amelia Earhart (1897 – 1939)

“Women must try to do things as men have tried. When they fail, their failure must be but a challenge to others.”

Amelia Earhart was the definition of a rule breaker. An American aviator who became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic and the first person ever to fly solo from Hawaii to the US, Amelia was a pioneering aviator and a true female trailblazer.

Earhart refused to be boxed in by her gender from a young age, born in Kansas in 1897 Amelia played basketball growing up, took auto repair courses and briefly attended college. In 1920, Earhart began flying lessons and quickly became determined to receive her pilot's license, passing her flight test in December 1921.

Earhart set multiple aviation records, but it was her attempt at being the first person to circumnavigate the globe which led to her disappearance and presumed death. In July 1937, Earhart disappeared somewhere over the Pacific, and was declared dead in absentia in 1939. Her plane wreckage has never been found and to this day, her disappearance remains one of the greatest unsolved mysteries of the twentieth century.

Facilities Master Plan Community Meeting

TVUSD is in the process of developing a district wide master plan with regards to its facilities and their needs. Each school site is hosting a community meeting to gather the input from its educational partners. The Facilities Master Plan Community Meeting for the Sparkman Alternative Education Center is scheduled for Wednesday, March 16, at 3:30.

We invite all students, parents and interested SAEC community members to attend this virtual meeting via Zoom.

Marilu Vega

Marilu deserves to be recognized as student of the week for many reasons. First and foremost is she is always on top of her game when it comes to getting her work done. Throughout this semester she has consistently been focused in class and producing quality work. Along with this she always has a positive outlook and good attitude towards learning. Keep up the good work!

This is a shout out to the administration and support staff at RVHS to thank you and to reassure you that the program you are providing for alternative learners is ahead of the curve. I have worked in higher education for almost twenty years and through my students I have learned that K-12 schools must broaden the types of curriculum they offer in order to match the range of talent in our young people. Thank you for providing alternative routes. It is the key to helping "all" individuals rise to their highest potential.

Ms. Carey- I genuinely love this human being she’s 100% real and I go out of my way to say hi to her everyday I’ve never met a person who doesn’t like her she’s probably the one and only staff member that makes me happy and I wouldn’t go out of my way to type anything like this about anyone, she deserves a raise.

Mrs. Kalldin- I have a crazy amount of respect for Ms Kalldin and everything that she does for us students. rancho feels so safe when Ms Kalldin is around and seeing her for pride club and BSU is the best part of my week ! I’m so proud of her for coordinating everything for our BSU activities so last minute and still making it work. thank you Ms Kalldin for always doing the right thing and making rancho a great place to be.

Mr. Cummings- He is not only a great teacher but an awesome role model. He’s super kind and down to earth and I always feel safe in his classroom. Extra shoutout for always respecting my identity and using my correct name and pronouns, it means a lot to me !! Major Respect !

Mrs. Cooper- Thank you, Mrs. Cooper, for your kindness and patience with your students. Mrs. Cooper always gives her 110% and I really look up to her. I always look forward to 5th period with the coolest English teacher around ! Thank you again, Mrs. Cooper, rock on !!

Mrs. Cunningham- thank you for helping BSU during black history month and keeping our activities going ! I'm super grateful for Mrs. Cunningham always lending a helping hand even when her schedule is crammed. She’s a super hard worker and a great teacher !!

Classroom Disruptions

Rancho Vista has been working hard to reduce student distractions in classrooms. We are enforcing our district's cell phone policy, that cell phones may only be used for instructional purposes and at the discretion of the teacher.

Students are put in a difficult situation when they receive a phone call from a parent during class time. This is not only a distraction for the student, built a disruption to the classroom. We respect the need for parents to communicate with their students, but please do not call during class times.
